You will definately need a new helmet. Helmets have a shelf life. They start deteriorating after a few years. Generally, no more than 5 years on a helmet.

You will also need gloves, a jacket, some boots, and some Draggin Jeans. Some of it you can get used or on clearance to start off really cheap. I might be able to dig up some extra gear off some of the guys also.

You should consider taking the MSF course, but if you want to save some money, you can come over after you pick up a bike, and I can teach you the exact same things for free (rather than the $250 for the class). I've taught a few people (all are still alive). The MSF course will get you your real license though.

I think your talking about a race class. MSF teaches you the basic fundumentals of riding the proper way.
