    Default specV

im looking at spec v's. and many of them say 90xxx on chassis and 40xxx on motor. why do all these specVs with under 100k miles have new motors? that makes me hesitant to buy one.

All spec-v's except the 06' have a major problem with the front cat breaking up and getting sucked into the engine and messing up the cmpression. Also there are butterfly valves that are used for some wannabe v-tech and the scews that hold the valves on come off and get sucked into the intake manifold. I had an 04 spec-v and it was a great car until it hit 49xxx and then the engine blew. I would advise you not to buy one. I know plenty of people who have had nothing but problems with these cars. Go to this forum, it will have everything you need to know: http://www.nissanforums.com/qr25-2-5l-engine/

The only problems I've known of with the Spec V were the pre-cat in the header and the butterfly valve screws.

The pre-cat header problem was recalled, but I'd just swap the stock header for a Stillen or something. The Buttlerfly Valve Screws can be removed and put back on with locktite for a quick and effective solution.

If you replace the stock header for one without a pre-cat you have to get a wideband 02 sensor.

some one lied to ya buddy, i had the first batch of HS headers and all i did was relocate it with no problems but if that works to go for it! i'd recommend AEBS or HS with a Downpipe, it gets a little louder and gains about 4 or so. the AEBS has a Dp already on it. best bang for the buck on a spec V

The Stillen ceramic coated header comes with a black box that you splice into your O2 Sensor wire to get rid of the code. Worked great for me.

I just did the next best thing and dumped my piece o shit nissan and got a Honda. Its a pretty major defect for an entire run of cars to have. My engine blew at 58,000 miles(it was an 05) becaue of the pre-cat.
