Every time? Have you tried putting it in 1st and then reverse? If I remember correctly, they share the same synchro.

My car does that sometimes. I just put it in 1st gear and come off the clutch enough so that it roll like a 1/8 inch and then mine will go into reverse

have you stopped real hard while driving on reverse?? when this happened?
    does it grind?
does it go in Rev. with the car off?

I thought reverse is a non synchro gear
maybe a reverse shaft gear is broke??

i would lift the car and take a look underneath. it's possible the linkage is hitting something. i've seen this twice when customers brought in their car and i couldn't get it into reverse to get it off the dyno.

I had that problem in a prelude I used to have. It all started when I shifted from 2nd to 3rd really hard and grinded a little. It only grinded one time That particular tranny only had about 40k miles on it so I know the syncro's werent gone yet. After that, It would not go into reverse. Sometimes if I put it in 4th and let the clutch out a little and then put it into reverse it would go. About 3 weeks after that started, 2nd gear went out. I believe the whole thing was related to that one grind. I took it apart and couldn't really tell why it would not go into reverse, everything looked fine.

    good luck with it
