Whenever she manages to escape from her pursuers, Miyuki awakes and writes off the incidents as a dream, but finds the entire situation repeating again, the words 'Never End' displayed instead of the usual 'The End'. Originally, it was intended to be only one story, but Clamp team found it so enjoyable they decided to carry it further. There are no male characters in the series. As a result of this the series is highly yuri in nature.
Seraphim Call may be considered avant-garde in several respects. For example: it is an anthology of individual stories while most other anime is serialized. Other examples include a surprise ending that comes at the beginning of one of the stories, an episode seen entirely through the eyes of a plush toy, one is largely a Thunderbirds parody, and two nearly identical episodes from individual twin perspectives. The experimentation in plot structure can be very subtle often requiring the viewer to watch each episode twice before noticing it.
Sentimental Journey focuses on the relationship between a boy and the various girls he met throughout his life. The protagonist, Tanaka Ichirou, is a high school student who, prior to the spring vacation of his third year, receives a letter simply stating "I want to meet you." During middle school, his frequent transferring of schools allowed him to form unique relationships with various girls. In order to search for the sender of the letter, he travels nationwide to various places, and meets the 12 girls of his memories once again.
