Default FS: JL Audio 12W6 in custom enclosure

One JL Audio 12W6 mounted in a sealed box made exactly to JL Audio's specs for optimal sound quality. The enclosure is made out of 3/4" MDF but I have not covered it, so it's just bare wood. I've also added a grill to the front of the speaker to protect it from damage.

If you've been around car audio much, you know the reputation this model has.

    Subwoofer Specs:
    Dual 6 Ohm Voice Coils
    300 Watts RMS
    500 Watts Peak

    Enclosure Specs:
    3/4" MDF
    1.25 cubic feet volume
    18" x 13" x 13.75"

    Detailed Product Specs

    $160 OBO

    Please PM me if interested.

You can wire it in series or parallel depending on if you want your amp to see a 3 or 12 Ohm load. Very handy in certain setups. Right now it is wired for 12 Ohms because the crappy amp I'm using to drive it is only stable down to 4 ohms.

Weird. I have never seen that before... Normally just dual 2 or dual 4.

That was back in the day when you could buy 3 8,10,12, or 15w6's and wire them up to get a 4 ohm mono load. Usually three subs were the ideal width to fill the length of a trunk. JL Audio also had those triangular custom fiberglass mounting plates you could buy. The 4 ohm mono load is perfect for amps, but it sucks when you try to run 1 or 2 subs. With one sub you could run the 3 ohm mono(1.5 ohms stereo) load, but some amps couldn't take that impedence long. They are GREAT subs though.

Yes, I really do love the way this sub sounds. I wouldn't be selling it if I wasn't strapped for cash. It really is a great sub and I'm pretty sure if I sell this one I'll have a hard time replacing it. If I end up selling my Integra before I sell this I will probably just keep it, finish the box, and put it into the daily driver(Accord).
