We need a minimum of 12 participants for this to happen. As of right now we have about 8, including 3-5 full-fledged race cars that will be racing at Sebring in the following weeks. I would probably cap off the number of participants at about 16 or so. Depends on how heavy the responses are.

For payment, unfortunately I can't do it over the phone. This is because I am hosting this event personally. There are no big businesses involved. I pay the track from my personal account and then we go driving. Feel free to mail in a check or money order though. E-mail me for the mailing address.

    NOTE TO PARTICIPANTS
If you are registering for this event, you can save 10% off any 2005 Rated G-FORCE Racing Gear Helmet!! Just put Talledega Track Day in the notes when placing your order!

Thanks to everyone for their interest!

    It's like...20mins away from I-20.

Just to let everyone know, if the track day gets rained out or if we don't get enough participants (don't think I gotta worry about that) then your money will be refunded in full.

If this event works out well then yes, I'll be hosting one every couple of months. Maybe quarterly. This is the first event that I'm holding so we'll have to learn as we go. I would video it, but I don't have a digi-cam. I will be taking some still shots though.

I just checked with the track and it looks like a M2000 rated helmet or better will be required. Also, convertibles can drive even if they do not have a rollbar. They must have the top up though.

I hope you got my money yesterday or today. Off the top of your head, what is a motorcycle helmet rated? I know it has to be higher for impact reasons.

    thanks

Motorcycle has an MXXXX rating. M2000 and M2005 are the only accepted motorcycle helmets. Snell SA2000 and SA2005 are race helmets and are rated higher than motorcycle helmets. I personally have a SA2000 helmet. My head isnt something i want to cheap out on.

just a little tip for you guys that are going..

bring lotsa water, for you and your car
make sure you have fresh fluid and pads, this track is hard on brakes.
this is also pretty hard on tires too, especially on the left side so be prepared.
    but most importantly have fun.

Unfortunately no. Not a big fan of Paypal and their system. I'll be out again this weekend. Give me a ring so we can meet up sometime.

    A note to everyone...

The track is being pretty douchey as they still want $2600 instead of $2000 for the track day. I'm fighting with them to come back down but I'm not sure how it's going to turn out. If I can get the cost back down, then we'll be good to go. If not, then I'll be sending everyone's checks back to them. Hope for the best.

I've sent in the deposit on the track. If they accept it, then we're good to go. If not, then I'll be writing checks out to those who have paid for the registration. Thanks to everyone who is interested.

There are two spaces open at the moment. I have another NSX and an M3 interested, but nothing solid yet. If you're seriously interested, then let me know via PM.

I just made an agreement with the track and the trackday is a GO!!! I have to admit, I was sweating it for a minute. Anyways, if you've paid me with a check, then your check is in my account now.

NO MORE REFUNDS UNLESS WE ARE RAINED OUT!!

If it sprinkles, then we will still drive. If it slams us with the waterfalls of God, then we will call it quits. Just letting you guys know. Also, 95 rated helmets will be acceptable at the track. That's a note for all you cheap@sses.

    - We will open the gates at 8:00AM and in that time, you will sign various release forms, undergo a tech inspection, and then be there for a small debriefing about the days events.
    - The first car will hit the track at roughly 9:00AM with each group of 3 cars driving near 20mins for each session.
    - We will break for lunch at 1:00PM and resume driving at roughly 2:00PM. At this point, we will be driving in the opposite direction to try and balance tire wear.

If your tires are a little low, then I recommend bringing a second set. Seriously.

Remember, long pants and shoes. Make sure you car isn't leaking crap all over the place and double check all the necessary items. I look forward to seeing you guys out there. Thanks to everyone for your patience and support!

    A website with on-track footage.

    http://www.opentrackaction.com/track_videos.htm

    Scroll down and select:

Talladega Grand Prix Raceway (Little Talladega)
    Mustang chasing Mustang (.wmv, 6mb)

It's a video of my manager Howard Bennett (White Mustang) leading some new guy (Black Mustang) around the track. I believe that Howard said he'll provide some in-car instruction if anyone wants it. Later.
