HIN and NOPI together at last well frankly its goin to be a joke cause its too little to late both have fallen flat even in the tunning scene, they will never revive the old Nopi Nationals and frankly no one who ever went can say it just sucked. As for all the people complaining about the ricers at the show well this aint comunist china witch is technically the country ya are implying by using the word "ricer" im sure there if you feel like paying 45 dollars to enter your car in show even if its a ford escort they wont walk around goin oh look at the "hotdog mobile" or look at the "bush mobile" or hey look there goes an "economy disaster" or the "welfare car"....

Nopi shows were the best when they were held at Lakewood IMO.

if everyone on here entered their cars then it wouldnt be a complete rice fest lol...dont complain about the car shows going to shit and not do anything about it! You could make a lot of the spectators, that go to the shows that aren't really into the car scene as much, finally see what some clean ass cars look like

Why complain? Its going to happen. Might as well enter your car and hope you're around another clean car and grab a few beers and just hang out. Better than sitting at home and wishing there was something to do.

I had been going to Nopi since 2000. Its garbage. Nopi is garbage. Mike Meyers and his crew are garbage. HIN isnt that much better. They fucked over a lot of people that last year they were in Atlanta. The only decent cars that go are in the booths, and I dont have to pay 70+ bucks to see them.

And here is the issue. You are trying to defend your friend but you don't know the whole story because you haven't looked into it. I also know J-Bird and Jeremy and I'm pretty sure neither of them are too excited about the event series either.

No more posts foe me on the topic. People who have been doing this a while know what time it is and none of us here need to explain. God the turn around in the industry is so fast. That's the real problem. Organizations can get away with what they do because the people in the industry rotate in and out so often. Sadly, for some of us it's our careers and we are here to stay. It's not a fad in my life.

Well ill put in my two cents, but i been into the car scene ever since i could get behind a wheel of a car, frankly i never too much cared for what NOPI or HIN stood for, ofcourse id allways price check them first but more times than none i dint shop from either any one in conjuction with them, i still remember when i walked into NOPI at forest park to try to get a body kit for my SC400 and i got a preaching from the guy behind the counter because i mentioned i could get the same kit from a local shop and not pay shipping, he went on and on and praised NOPI like their kits came from the car kit gods and how wrong i was for goin in and even asking, needless to say that was my last trip to nopi to shop for anything, so i cant say NOPI changed my tuner experience heck if anything i enjoy the local meets alot more, i wish some one would say how nopi fucked atlanta rather than beatting around the bush but frankly i dont get how a city with such a rich car culture gets passed over so many times for movies like fast and furious ect (and im sorry if some of ya aint fans of the movies but i am) i just dont get how we get passed over for LA 2x and Miami and Tokyo and from my understanding now Brazil is where the 5th fast and furious is reported to be goin to be filmed at, and ill go on record of say it i officially retire the word RICER out of my vocabulary and ill call it as i see it and for what they really are cause too many in here make the habit of throwing out the word RICER like churches chicken sells boxes of chicken on a wensday... the word is "Posers" ( you see how dosnt come from the cars ethnicity lol that meas you can call all makes reguardless where from a derogatory term and be racially biased) and oh yeah dont get ya period all on me cause i didnt capitalize every word or spell every word to a college level or use comas in the right places ect ect ect

Look at the attendance levels for the last 5 years i bet they are steadily declining if not falling off a cliff. HIN stopped coming here because PEOPLE DIDNT GO. NOPI stopped doing the NOPI Motorsports Nationals because PEOPLE STOPPED GOING and manufactures STOPPED PAYING TO SHOW UP . It was a shitty return on the investment. I mean booths at nopi for Vendors were from $2000-100,000.

The best "shows" they will have now is some local put together event with marketing and advertising through internet forums.

Gone are the days of driving the super street tour to nopi.

Sheesh no wonder Nopi went out of business they have NO FUCKING clue what the market is like today.

there was ALWAYS two companies.

NOPI MOTORSPORTS put on all the events like the National Show, the NDRA, etc.

Nopi Parts was the warehouses and distribution centers that slanged body kits and neons.

Nopi PARTS went out of business , they owed hundreds of thousands of dollars to suppliers , they just bled money. they may have reopened but they are nowhere near the capacity they were at before

Nopi MOTORSPORTS cancelled the NOPI DRIFT and the NDRA events and ultimately the National Show. However it doesnt really cost them anything if they dont put a show on. So if they see an opportunity to make money they can do it and try to charge at the door and entry fees etc.

Well for some reason people stopped going and stopped entering. That's why they went under.

97-04 is gone and it's never coming back

HIN actually stopped coming because they overbooked their last show here leaving 100's of people with tickets standing outside all day. Rather then fix it, they never came back. That's how I remember it anyways.

There was a guy with a bad ass RX-7 and R34 in the front of the lines that had been there for most of the day, they even got rid of gas in their tanks so theyd comply, only to be told there was no room at the end of the day.

I still cant wait!

Bad weather also played a part....Hurricanes hit Florida I believe in 07 and that hurt the turnout from there.....

Maybe I'm just appreciative but I really REALLY could appreciate the fact one of if not the biggest car show in America was RIGHT IN OUR BACKYARD. I didn't have to drive to Nashville, to Miami, to NY, anywhere.

It was right here.

I always had a great time when I went as did our club. It was cool b/c someone with a Lexus would always debut something "new". So what if there was a lot of rice and yeah the judging wasn't the best but overall there were thousands of cars inside the show and outside parking and if you loved cars it was great.

The logistics of holding an event are mind bobbling. I can't imagine the insurance policy that had to be purchased. It is sad the prices went up, bad weather came into play and maybe some decisions were not the best (more drifting, concerts).....I don't know.

What I do know is it was sad it went away and a one of a kind event is gone. Hopefully this is the start of something new.

Hell my PARENTS went to the NOPI Nationals just to see cars, get some free stuff, and enjoy something fun that was close.
