ok, anyone going may want to print out the following maps...i'll have about 10 copies of each, first come first served. you'll want to print out the deadzonevideo.com linked maps in landscape format for best view (i'm gonna smack someone if i seem them with pages cut out and taped together, lol, haha, jk)
SO PRINT AND BRING THESE if you want:
http://www.bloodmountain.com/directions/map.gif <---good, simple map of area. does not cover cashiers loop area though
http://www.deadzonevideo.com/Map/Cashiers%20Loop.htm <---likely our main route, probably pitstop in helen for oktoberfest/food, probably loop lake burton (the lake straight south of the word GEORGIA on this map) also.
http://www.deadzonevideo.com/Map/hwy180A.htm <---good little roads. if traffic is cooperating, we can work these into the a few loops before heading east
NEALS GAP on these maps is the main overlook and store that indian stig was talking about...should be one of our first stops, especially if we are doing the cashiers loop. use the appalachain trail show on the maps to orient yourself from map to map.
any GPS people may also want to note these addresses...
turners corner (probable first pit stop) 10 Turners Corner Rd. , Cleveland, GA 30528
main overlook (probable second pit stop) 9710 Gainesville Hwy, Blairsville, GA 30512
The blood mountain store at Neels Gap is called the Walasi-yi Center. Good move on driving to Clayton and the Carolinas to avoid the craziness all around Dahlonega lol!
Umm...I've seen 400N backed up through Dawson before...with very little breathing room between the lights. Hwy. 60 will probably be a parking lot from Moe's (the right turn towards Wal-Mart) over Crown Mtn. halfway to 400. Helen is going to be a mess too. I don't have much advice, you're in for a treat. I recommend a DVD player or wireless internet lol!
lol, been burning band's concert/documentary DVD's for the past 2 weeks...knew i was doing that for something.
<highlights direction suggestions; file print selection> ...thanks for the detour roads too!
...to clear up some other things i thought about too...we were planning on a slow/safe pace from the get-go but didn't have a clue there was any festivals going on that weekend...so thanks for the heads up there too![]()
ok ok so where does it all start. we meet where at what time!
it is pretty close...sounds about right...i guess a little less than 10-15 minutes in sat AM traffic?
but for those coming up from atlanta...take 985 north to exit 4, right off the exit and wal-mart is there on your left...the MOG way will also get you there...put the mall to your right of the road, go about a mile, should see wal-mart on the right by golden corral, if you cross 985 you somehow missed it...pay attention, lol.
not sure of the best way to get there from the north east...address for the walmart is 3795 Buford Drive, Buford, GA 30519
i'll be there a little earlier than 10:30, green 2 door BMW with black hood, roof and trunk...will probably be smoking a cig or chowing down on a chicken biscuit, haha...
...and everyone will probably want to grab a little breakfast before we go, may also want to pack a little cooler or bring a bottle of something to drink.
it'll will probably be cold in the morning, don't count on it warming up too much either, wear a jacket or bring a jacket...may want to bring a coat too if you get cold as easily as i do.
I would advise to go straight at the end of Hwy. 400 instead of left on Hwy. 60 towards Dahlonega. It's 4.6 miles to the next light at Hwy. 52 that also leads to Wal-mart. I wouldn't even go that way but it's better than Hwy. 60 if you insist on getting food in that area.
Personally I would remain straight past 400 which is Long Branch Rd, cross Hwy. 60 then cross Hwy. 52 and keep going until it dead ends at Cavender Creek Rd. Make a left there then a right on Town Creek Church Rd. Left on Frogtown then left at the end on Damascus Church Rd. That will dump you out onto Hwy. 9/19 not far from Turners Corner Cafe...but that's just me.
From that area I can get you to just about any town via dirt roads that is within or borders Chattahooche National Park...Ellijay, Suches, Dahlonega, to Helen...too bad nobody is taking a rally prepped car![]()
oh don't get me wrong, i love my cars too, the mechanicals more so than the paint/body, too many track booboo's to worry about the body...i probably should wash them more often, but the last time i washed anything on a car it was just to get the spray paint to stick better, lol.
can't wait to get out of work...anxious for tomorrow![]()
My car will be dirty!
Can't wait for this.

Ok, been to the mountains for the past few weekends and not going to lie, roads are packed. Best bet is to run the usual 129-180-60-19 loop. 180 was super clear, and IMO, the best road in GA.
If someone wants to let me ride with them ill be down to go![]()
