    Default FALL IMPORT SHOWDOWN 2009

GADSM’s Import Showdown is scheduled for Sunday September 27, 2009 at Silver Dollar Raceway in Reynolds Georgia.

This event is open to every car and bike, import or domestic. It is an event put on by enthusiasts, for enthusiasts and has classes that will accommodate all types of set ups with races that range between our all motor class (usually high 12’s to low 13’s) to the competitive Showdown class (usually <10’s) as well as plenty of test and tune time in between.

Competition rules have been modified this year, we heard your wants and hopefully answered them. It is the racers responsibility to read the rules prior to entering their class as there have been changes and assumptions made in the past. Specifically we have changed to tire restrictions and it should now compliment the racers and the tech inspects.

We have modified the staging area to be more accessible to the racers during the competition. Test and Tune will see much more time with the staging lanes being open during down time in the competition. Tech inspection will be near the staging lanes elimination much of the congestion from previous events. We are avidly working on streamlining the traffic, tech inspections, maximizing the amount of time that racers can spend going down the track.

For more information about the event, visit
    www.importshowdown.com

    Pre-registration opens September 1st .

We have brought back the modified street class after many people voiced there opinion that they wanted this class to remain. Also, the drag radial tire issue has ben addressed and the new rule is for STAMPED DOT APPROVED. Slicks are as always approved for Showdown class and drag radials are A-OK for All Motor

    Now bring yo asses out!

modified street is the hottest class nationwide (it mimicks the majority of sport compact built race cars out there)

    Great Move.

I can dream about something good tonight now.

Not by their site it doesnt

    Modified/Street
    Single Power Adder
Tire Limits: FWD: Full Slicks, AWD and RWD: DOT Approved (must have stamp)
Front half of interior, single seat ok
Exhaust must exit behind front wheels
Fuel Cells must be 8 gals or more
Engine/Transmission swaps to those of a different mfg than the body is allowed. However, engine and transmission must be a mfg pair or it must be the original transmission with the mode vehicle. Example: Nissan RB26 with Nissan transmission in a Mazda body is ok, Nissan motor, GM tranny in Mazda not allowed.
Transmission swaps to out of mfg transmission is not allowed without coordinated engine swap.

Yep, just seems like everybody that usually runs the showdown class will now be in the street modified class.

I was looking at the all motor class for the camaro, the civic has zero interior but both cars have dumped exaust before the rear axle.

It'd be quicker to add nitrous and run in the mod/street class but I already have huge traction issues. I may need to check IFO rules again to see if theirs is the same way since the civic would be bumped to the showdown class here If so Im gonna need more than my 22" slicks

We adjusted the rules from last year Stiryfry.

We brought the Modified Street class back due to large popularity. We do want to establish a difference between MS/FWD/AWD/RWD/SD

Some of the Showdown guys may compete in MS and SD, if you are that good and can win more power to you. The goal is to provide a popular class MS which fits a rather large majority. Secondly SD was modified to allow a little more breathing room I.E. tires, wheelie bars, single piece front end, and restricted tubing.

You Hope that car make a full pass this time... Maybe you should put it back to stock and run street class. The Blue Rx3 will be there to drag you down the track into the 8's. Your car is the appetizer and the full coarse will bust your gut.

    Its slow... I promise

Good, they allowed wheelie bars so cars like yours would be allowed to run. 10.5 tire limit though. I'm sure you'll do well.

We didnt have enough response and turn out for a hybrid class. I like the class and it could possibly return if we get enough requests and turn outs. Best way to make that happen is have a bunch of hybrids show for test and tune to state your case. We get a decent turn out of hybrids, we will put it back up for a vote And no.....were not talking Prius' and Insite's here.

Tires are true 10.5 bro on a blown motor in the air the rx3 drug your time across the track. I hope you can make a pass away from the dyno and bring your NOS cause you will need it. Bring your big brother Supra cause I got lil more boost for that also..... Blame it on the Alcohol...

Illinois then Florida for a short stint. If I can get stationed in Florida til I get out, that'd be awesome. At least Atlanta isn't TOO far away so I could definitely make enough events to keep me satisfied.
