i softened the image for the contrast to work in my favor
to me i cant see detail in the wheel area, id say back brighten those areas and cut down on saturation a hair. Sharpen.

Diesel Motors are completely different than petro motors. Diesel uses the heat of the compression ignite the combustion. It's actually unburned carbon and is not a big deal. WHen you get black smoke at WFO/WOT, its a good sign.
