    Default The CRV

The CRV is stock for now, but I've talked to a few people who swap the B20 head for a B18 head. I'm looking into that, but is the B18 head VTEC? I don't want VTEC. After the engine bay is cleaned up and reduced to necessities only, I'm thinking either ITBs or a turbo. I already own stock ITBs off of a Honda 996, but they'd require some custom runners, injectors, wiring, and a lot of tuning- not financially ready for all of that yet. At this point, I'd like to start with suspension, brake upgrades front and rear, and a manual/AWD swap Any suggestions?

Not yet. We actually clay bar and waxed my car about a week before I got the Pinnacle so it'll be a little while. I can't wait to try it though!

Is it a 4x4? I'd love to see a modern interpretation of the AWD civics of the 80's. Drop it a bit, thrown on some terrain tires, turbo.

My ex-gf has a 5spd CRV, it was pretty awesome.

You will absolutely love it. h23bb2 got a coat of it on his Subbie, and it really brought the color out of his red. The looks last about a month but the protection lasts about 2-3 months. If you use something like a quick wax inbetween or a spray detailer (such as Ultimate Quik detailer) it makes the paint pop again and allows the wax to last longer.

T-18, NP-205, and Rockwell's. That is all you need to worry about. If you really wanna fuck some shit up do a 203-205 doubler and a nice SB Stroker combo.

T-18 is the turbo, NP-205 is a t-case, and Rockwells are axles and/or hubs, correct? Sounds like fun

T-18 is actually a Borg Warner 4 speed Manual Transmission. The goddamn thing is no shit bulletproof. It has Granny low 1st gear. It is def one of the most desireable 4x4 manual trans out there today. It's been around for a long damn time. I swapped one in my F-150 along with a 205 transfer case and a 300 CI inline 6 Ford. It would out pull everything but a diesel. Plus you could put it in 1st and let the clutch all of the way out without ever hitting the gas and it would never stall. I had a locker in the rear & posi (lock-right) up front with 3.55 gears up front and back. It would go just about anywhere. Best of both worlds, pull great and still ran on the hwy at 75+ with no problems.

Whenever I get around to building the 66-77 Bronco that I want, it will have an np205 and T-18 in it. Motor choice is still up in the air, but more than likely it will end up with some sorts of EFI'd 302 Stroker combo.

I'm actually doing a mild b20 build for a friend and swapping it into a shitvic so I'm pretty up to date on my B20 info. The nonVTEC B18 heads (LS heads) are identical to the B20 head (both are stamped P72 although in other parts of the world there's a P8R head, but are super rare here in the states- I've seen one). The only difference is the B20 head actually has more aggressive cams. So if your sticking to a non VTEC build, leave your head alone.
As for ITBs, they look pretty and work great- on certain applications. I would not advise doing it to an auto equipped car nor to a mildly built low reving (below 8k rpm) honda motor. A decent skunk2 manifold or better yet a mildly ported factory manifold will work better ESPECIALLY if your doing low speed off-roading where low end tq is of much greater importance than screaming top end power. Pair this with a bigger throttlebody (omnipower units ranging from 64mm-70mm can be had cheaply on ebay. $180ish with a new TPS) and you'll get a small amount of power everywhere but awesome throttle response.
Putting a big (heavy) wheel tire combo will definately require some more power to keep the current (acceleration) performance for street duty, but tq off idle is what your after if your gonna be doing any mild rock/tree climbing, so chose your power adders wisely. Know where they make power and where they have a tendency to lose power and strike as good of a balance as possible.
