So many irony jokes could be had right now, but I won't go there.
At least you're ok though. Sorry to hear about it.

....just kidding. I have a S2000 now
I'll post pics whenever I get a working camera, but it could've been worse. At most, the bumper, headlight, hood, and fender will be replaced. This happened at 2:38 AM so I decided to go home, drink some Jack Daniel's and worry about today.
Shit happens, then insurance covers it. LOL
Mmmmmm, should have thought about that last night
"The individual has always had to struggle to keep from being overwhelmed by the tribe. If you try it, you will be lonely often, and sometimes frightened. But no price is too high to pay for the privilege of owning yourself."
Steve, if you didn't get my text here's the pics I sent.
Cleaned up but still has some baked on shit. This was after 2-3 applications of iron deposit desolver. I'll try one more time again when they are dry, thinking the cleaner may penetrate better

Tempting to sell my hatch for this....
That is very pretty! I would do it if I were you!
Run the fuck away! You can tell it was modded then de-modded... A cold air, depending on model, can be disasterious on a stock tune. Hell, the stock tune is pretty bad in and of itself on some of these cars...
It originally had a front mount on it, and who knows if it was previously tuned for certain mods then demodded but still "tuned"? Just some FYI: unless you run a subaru shop and/or have spare shit everywhere (like somebody we all know...) a used motor is anywhere from $1200-2000 grand from a junkyard.
Steve will tell you that they're unreliable, while this isn't completely true, I will say say that they're getting older now and more and more maint. is being neglected and more questionable mods/components are being installed meaning more shit to go wrong in a big way. Unless you do what tommy and I did and find a super nice/clean/well maintained near virgin car, its risky business to get one if your not prepaired to pay to play....

Damn it...another Subaru joining the area. Looks like it's time to start car shopping again.
Steve, you say they're reliable yet haven't all of yours failed at some point or another or is it the fact that the cars are abused?
To clarify, I've never said they were unreliable, just not as reliable as other performance vehicles. It's a car that you drive with the thought in the back of your head, "what will break this time"? Now I can honestly say I've yet to have a major mechanical issue with my personal vehicle.

Sherwin Williams in Sharpsburg. It's next to Blockbuster. Not sure where it's at? Google it.
Dads first motor: an injector failed. If a wideband was installed the motor would still be alive. Sad art is, his wideband was ordered but shipping was delayed andhe didn't get it in time. Honestly, a freak accident, but carnage was had:
Dad's second motor was a victim of poor machine shop work and an accidental overboost courtesy of swapping BOV's and not realizing the OEM was leaking 3+psi. Not really a freak accident, but not a typical failure. The motor is being salvaged in its entirety and will be re-used at some point in the future (project build).
My motor: Hahahaha My "Go big or go home" philosophy sent me home on a flatbed. lol Mikey advised not pushing further but I insisted it be done in an attempt to break the pump gas td04 record. I was left with no record (record hot day for january at nearly 90*) and rod knock but only after relentless and merciless flogging. It was multiple highway pulls through 3rd and 4th gear that finally caught up to it. Better oil (Rotella T6 5w-40) might have saved it. With a normal tune it would still be running.
Dad's transmission: The 5spds are weak as hell. Nearly 300wtq will break it easily. It lasted through countless dragstrip launches at over 300wtq, street launches, half mile runs in FL, and countless pulls to 130+. Out of all the failures we've had, I'd say this was the only one that was "typical." Reliable? Sure, to an extent, but it ain't a honda....

That sounds like you have had some crazy adventures with the cars!
I have actually thought about maybe a 5 series wagon or audi wagon as of recently, but anything german without a warranty scares me....
any input?
Otherwise my conclusion is my car choice for my price range is rather bland and boring.
If you're gonna get a German car (ANY German car), please make sure that it's something you can be dedicated to and something that you know you will LOVE. If you don't love it, you won't want to deal with the German price tag. If you love it, maintenance will still suck, but you won't feel as bad while spending your money because you know it'll be worth it in the end.
They're all gonna suck as far as maintenance goes. Even if they're "reliable".

I wouldn't want to own an Audi without a warranty but the 5-series aren't bad as long as you maintain them per scheduled maintenance. Most people tend to lack the common sense in this department which consequently comes back to bite them in the ass yet the car is a shitty one in their eyes.![]()
That is badass!!!
