Won't that mean that I'll be riding around with this bad camber and toe issue for a while? I'm not getting rims for a while... I just don't have the $$ right now.

I would wait till you could fund the rest of the needed equipment and alignment. If you want the best handling performance listen to the Steves. camber has function but only for looks only, i feel at this point. Please buy quality products this makes everything work better and last longer.

The cheap way out will only cost you more in the long run.

Does anybody know of a local place/junkyard that buys old catalytic converters?

Camber is much more than a matter of style. The correct camber setting will make a car more stable. Much more than just for looks.

    FYI, this guy
    http://atlanta.craigslist.org/search...y=404-427-0009
    will rip you off

His parts cars are garbage, and when a part doesn't work, he won't refund your money 'cause "his time is valuable"
I had to drive to him, pull a hub off myself, only to get it back home and find it is damaged. I called him asking for a refund, and he hung up on me.

All this serious talk lately haha. Who cares about upgrading your suspension to the max if its your DD. Do you plan on taking it to an event and racing for money? If not then just learn how to drive it.

ross, allignments are something that should be perforemed every now and again, so you can just pay the$ 55 bucks or whatever it is to get the car re-aligned.
i shoukd be out tomorrow night, so if you wanna chit chat, thats fine.
steve's point about quality suspension components is spot on! cheapness will be met with counter-productivity.
looks can also be counter productive.
he mentioned that going lower than 1.5" starts to have a negative impact on suspension geometry, this is correct. researching our (steve and i both have wrx's as well as my father) has shown that optimal suspension geometry is achieved when the center of the axle nut is 13.5" from the fender. further research (and measuring back to back with my car and my dads car) shows that the wagon fenders drop down another half an inch, meaning that the space between the center of the axle nut and fender should be no less than 13".
steve called me a nerd a couple pages ago, this proves it. lol
phil mentioned learning how to drive: this is the BEST and cheapest mod you can do!!!!! learning to drive properly takes time and is a never ending process. a few guys in this thread have quite a bit of track time and they are still evolving and developing their skills.

I wouldn't mind going to the V but I won't be getting off in time.
Phil was right, learn how to drive the car on the track. For all those posers out there thinking they know how to drive will realize how little they know during their first track event. Someone can tell you to do this and that but at the end of the day, you'll only truely learn being in the driver's seat. You will ALWAYS learn something new and ways to improve yourself at every event.

The only cheap thing I've bought is the lowering springs.

I have no idea...for looks? I thought adjusting it was for stability and handling? As you can see, I don't know.

Yea, looks are cool, otherwise I'm upgrading performance (engine wise). I want to lower it because (from what I understand) handling, downforce, body roll, etc.

I'm pretty sure I know how to drive my car, it sticks to the ground pretty well, I know my way around a stick shift. I am really interested to take it to a track tho for fun, not for $$ Idk of any I could go to.

All of my tuner buddies that have been in the game a while slam their cars and get camber kits and get their cars alligned. Their DD's are dropped 2.5-3" and they have no camber wear. I'm doing it for the style and for the handling. I just want to do things right, but I'm kind of impatient :p

there is a HUGE difference between spirited diving on the street and being out on a track. I thought I was a good driver.. until I started autocrossing.. then road courses are an even bigger step up.

^^ What he said and like I mentioned, you THINK you know how to drive until you've been on a track.

Dropping the car 2.5-3" and good handling does not belong in the same sentence. If you don't plan on doing any event then drop it and roll the fuck out. Most people that are serious about driving could give two shits about dropping frame. Lol.

the only racing for slammed, negative offset and poorly balanced cars is drifting(poorly)...

Well now I'm reconsidering 2"...if 1.5" looks good and it won't affect my car negatively, then that's what I'll do. 2" just seemed like the base line. I didn't think 1.5" was noticeable (visually).

It's more than you think. Any drop will be better than factory height will look good.

At the end of the day, it's your car and you can do as you please.
