Hey dumont what's the status on the comet and the 53?
i think im gonna listen to Dumont- I'm in the process of getting software and ditching the MBC..... Probably gonna be about a month- month and a half but things are starting to get rolling.....
I need a bit of cash and to install/break in new clutch. I should be good for 13s as it sits now with the MBC, then with my "software" HOPEFULLY 13.4 or better. Just need gonna need a bit cooler weather (and learning to drive won't hurt anything). lol

Got a buddy with an automatic prelude SI he's looking to sell. KBB is $3000, but he's open to offers if anyone's interested.
glws there shroeder!
I have just found another buffing method that i like, and it makes my other method seem obsolete (im sure it will still serve a purpose at some point.)
Steve - I'd focus more on your trap speed opposed to time. IMO, time only shows how well the car was driven. It's much more impressive to see that you gained 3-5mph than .3 secs. That's just me though. Also, there is nothing wrong with using a MBC unless you're planning on running 25+ psi. Anything beyond that and it's difficult to find a MBc that is capable of holding the pressure.
MPH is (as you know) a clear image of how much power the car is making when factored in conjunction with the vehicle weight. So I agree- better MPH= more power. I'm currently trapping consistently around 94mph (whether i run 14.6, 14.4, or 14.2) so if i atleast trap higher than that, i'm making more power.
My absolute biggest issue at the track is heatsoak. IAT's are crazy high when the car is sitting and the manifold and intercooler get fairly hot and don't cool down till past 1/8mile. I have a few things in place to help limit this unwanted phenomenon.
My second biggest problem is a clutch that can't stand up to 4500-5000 rpm launches. But a new Exedy OE replacement is goin in so this problem should be put at bay as well.
As for the MBC, come on steve, running nothing but an MBC on a stock tune is cavemanish. Face it dude, we're not playing with Starions, talons, and MR2's anymore. There's a fine line between running golden and blowing shit up.
MBC can be safe if you don't go crazy with the boost and know how to drive the car (again part throttle and full boost untuned DO NOT MATCH!). I've known people to run 18psi on untuned ECU's (only 02-03 cars. Starting in 04 the ECU's were no longer MBC friendly) without issue. My balls aren't that big. lol I'm running 15-15.5 peak boost in this hot ass weather. When it gets cooler I'm gonna keep it tamed to about 16psi.
The second (ancient) issue with MBCs is it only addresses boost, not fuel maps or ignition maps meaning there's alot of power left on the table. Something my "software" will fix to some extent.
Plus driving around at part throttle and keeping an eye on the boost gauge making sure the boost doesn't exceed 8-9psi and adjusting throttle input accordingly is a PIA. lol

Too bad it's somewhat flawed. Here's the craigslist post. http://atlanta.craigslist.org/sat/cto/1868967552.html
i'd be more concerned with it being an automatic than the paint being flawed. But that's just me....
EDIT: just looked st it- 4WS ftl..... There's not enough good too much "holy shit- are you fucking kidding me" going on with it. lol
It'll likely sell pretty quickly though....

I'm not saying add a MBC and walk away, although that is what most people tend to do. Like you had already mentioned, the map will need to be revised to take full advantage of increasing the boost. You say that a MBC is unreliable, that's solely based on the one you decide to use. There are a couple out there that have shown to be very reliable while others are complete failures; first crappy one that pops up in my head is the TurboXS. Get on EvoM, you will see quite a few cars using a MBC that have shown no issues and they're not you're average BPU cars either. Now, I'm not saying you shouldn't go with ECU controlled boost but with your current setup now, I don't see it being an absolute need.
How many launches have you put on this car? Does it currently have a 2-step? As you already know, the axles are a weak point in the drivetrain and just curious as to whether or not you plan on addressing this issue? I believe NAPA offers a lifetime warranty on their axles if you want to go the cheap route or possibly pick up a used set to bring along with you at the track should one decide to take a sh!t.
Now answer this question, who do you plan to have tune the car? I hope it's not who I think you'll say...
fixing a weak-point in drivelines just displaces it elsewhere (and usually somewhere more expensive)
Nah- if i said MBC are unreliable i was missunderstood. That hand-me-down turbosmart was but this Perrin i'm using now should be fine. I could've gotten a Hallman, but got a really good deal on this one. Besides- I'm a big perrin fan. lol
A tune's not needed i know but if i can do/get it for cheap (in this case less than $200) why not??
How many launches? Maybe two dozen. Ranging from 4k to 5k. Tried once at 6k but the clutch wasn't happy. No two step- yet. I'm debating if i want it and where I want it set. I'm more concerned with shearing the teeth off of second gear (this happens with the 02-03 transmissions) when bringing it into hard boost (not even shifting it hard) than snapping a $100 axle. lol
As for tuning i'll pm you about that later. But who were you thinking???
You sir deserve a cookie! lol

I doubt anyone would want this but I took the Kenwood tape deck outta my Tow pig. It works and its free if anyone has a need for it. Let me know.

finally, somebody posted in here today. lol

If it plays the radio, I'll take it. The Nissan NX AND the Miata both have busted stereos... they were both tape players, both had those tape/CD adapters, both broken.
I may. IDK... washing my car when I get outta here (work) so prob. I washed and waxed it sunday, cleaned the inside, the muffler, etc... Only to realize when I was done that I wasn't going anywhere that evening. lol
are you????
