I'm with ^^^^^. Also, you are right. I am going to say that you can still see them just fine when lit up. The picture makes them look MUCH darker then they really are. When the lights are on or the brake pedal depressed you can hardly tell they are tinted. Also, only in a blue moon will my wife and kids be in this car. If we are all together then we take the minivan my wife drives. I may have the kids in my car once (or less) a month. Usually once every 2 to 3 months.

I have come to a revelation today. Dont think that you wont need your cell phone and leave home without it, because today might be the day that you get into an accident.

Hooray for highschool girls on their cell phones in big f150s, who randomly accelerate when traffic doesnt move. Im glad the air bags didnt deploy on me cause i hit in the front and back.

I don't think the matrix has enough damage to be totaled joe
If the airbags had deployed, maybe, but not in its current state.

im feeling ok a little sore, but nothing too too bad. As far as the matrix, it had quite a bit of structural, and it got whacked in the front and back, dont know what the damage looks like behind the front bumper. The tail gate is fubared, and it pushed that whole rear quarter panel forward. Im hoping its totaled, because id be afraid to drive it afterward and get into a similar accident.

there is no reason to be ashamed of driving slow. It saves gas, keeps you safe, and keeps your insurance low.

Well knowing you, I'm sure you'll end up taking the Matrix to Kevin and maybe he can help you out a little bit to ensure it's totalled but I have to agree with Stephen, from what I can see, it doens't appear to be.

I know this feeling. Some money for a lawyer and some for fines. Just be thankful you still have a license. I know I am....
As for driving like a grandma... I have definately slowed down alot, and don't do stupid stuff anywhere near as often. It was a good experience for me....

That's odd... Your the one who just got in an accident? Neither safe, nor does it aid in lower insurance rates (regardless of whose at fault unfortunately).

(I'm just breaking your balls and I know your right for the most part and the unfortunate accident was not your fault)

Good guess, it was actually towed there yesterday. We were told its close by Kevin, but they are putting it up on the rack either today or tomorrow to see how out of line it is.

They have to cut the rear gate for it to open, id love to see that.

Now, like everyone else, I'm sure you will come back and say that you can still see them fine but compare a sprayed taillamp to a stock one and you'll see a difference. American's (being the terrible drivers that they are) don't pay attention while their driving as it is so why would you want to increase your chances of a rear-end collision all for a few "styling" points which IMO, tinted taillights look like crap.

Keep this in mind, whomever decides to rear-end you has legal rights to sue you have now modified them in such a way that the visibility of them has decreased.

Now that you have this perspective, is it worth putting your family at risk worth it?
The Ga law says the lights has to be easily visable from 200 ft during the day fyi. it doesnt say anything about tinting them, just they have to be able to bee seen. My buddy's civic had tinted tails that matched the black on his car and we never got pulled over or rearended. Just cuz u think it doesnt look good doesnt mean its unsafe/against the law/will cause and accident. kthbai.

but on the flip side, i dont think ill ever make it out to one of these

The GA law and DOT is completely different. Trust me, I know. I dealt with both DOT, SAE and FMVSS standards on a daily basis at work. It doesn't matter if you apply that Laminx crap or tint the taillights using a spray paint, you are altering the taillamps. Just because your buddy doesn't get pulled over for it doesn't make them legal. Nor did I ever say that it was going to guarantee he was going to get rear-ended, I only said it was going to increase his chances. Sure, I think they look like crap but my opinion of how they look doesn't have an impact on what is noted within DOT/SAE/FMVSS regulations. There is another member on here that has been in this industry longer than I have but I won't ask for his input but I would bet he would agree on my previous statements.

ANY modification whatsoever to a DOT/SAE complaint headlight, tail light, or light of any kind makes it non-complaint.....period. Federal Law FMVSS108.
