What's the clear-cut law on exhaust, decibel rating and equipment?

Right now my exhaust consists of: header - turndown with O2 sensor - cat - resonator - exhaust piping.
It is much louder. I don't like it, but I also can't afford to fix it correctly this week.
Technically, we have a decibel level restriction but a lot of cops don't enforce it too much unless it's ungodly loud.
