Not to mention anyone coming just to check us out. I guess we'll see.
no probs, man... I'm pretty sure I can make both dates. Saturday, I have to be down in Conyers by 7ish. But, it should be all right.

No, it's Thomas, our new shop Padwan. This was his first engine swap, he's only 19, and he pulled it off in like three days. He had to modify the oil sump because he changed from the maxima motor to a carbed Z motor. One motor is front sump and the other is a rear sump. He had to make a custom oil pick up tube and he painted the engine bay correctly. I gotta give some props to Thomas. He'll be at the dam meet in his OG Max.

Was the maxima a rear sump? Because mine is a front sump, and i looked at the codes on that motor and its the same as mine. Did yall do a dry sump?

Eddie, I got a purple 71 celica from the Thomas your talking about. I sold it to a friend about 2 months ago. Thomas said he would be coming out on saturday, but he doesn't have any thing OG to drive right now. He siad he would come in his '85 toyota pick-up. He said it's old and RWD. Lol.

Your motor is a front sump??? Yeah, his maxima is a front sump and the '76 z motor is a rear sump. Either motor uses the same oil pick-up tube, but the block has a different casting and location for the pick-up and the dipstick. If what your saying is correct then when I do the 280zx Turbo conversion to my RWD maxima, It might be a close to bolt in affair.
To answer the other question, I left before he had everything buttoned up on it. So I don't think he's driven it yet. I talked to him a while ago and he was still finishing up some wiring issues. He's happier than a pig in stank. It sounds mean.

haha, you were right about that sump once i think about it, i was picturing that 4ac motor. Thats wierd that that maxima is a front sump. I cant wait to get that head, i am getting new seats cut so i can put 280 valves in it.

The 280zx valves should be a pretty good bit bigger. Also I see why you are wanting to use a maxima head. I was looking at one in the scrap pile at work, and it's a close-chambered head. This combo should be pretty high compression. jus a lil r&d. Cool.

Well the maxima head is pretty good, because of the peanut shaped 38cc size, but the biggest restriction with the head is the vlave size and the steel sleeves in the runners. With and high compression z motor, your going to have to manipulate the heads no matter which head you decide to use, and i just happen to decide on this one, plus it will put my motor at 11.5:1 compression.

Cool a 66 Datsun roadster! thats a rare car, and if you show up with it, it will probably be the oldest Japanese car there. Do you need everything for the brakes? Just certain parts? We service and restore classic Japanese cars at Zero nostalgic Japanese streetfighters. Call 404-587-5590 if you have any questions. We can help you find rare parts also

Yeah man, I remember. Your mom also drives a starion. Come on out, bring some lawn chairs and some snacks, Oh yeah, and your cars. Glad to hear from you. We still have that flattie, and no one has bought any more parts off of it.

I guess I need to step it up and get you your maxima head. (11.5 to 1 compression it's gonna be bad) so you can do what you gotta do. I'm calling Thomas now. (I lay out of work every wednesday)

Hey man thanks for the head, the chambers are better than i thought, but i got home and found that the valve cover isnt tall enough, lol. Those intake valves are going to be rediculous when i get them cut, it even has grooves for larger valve seats. The chamber has like individual chambers per valve. Thanks man.

No problem, I,m excited to see how your motor pulls affter this swap. Being able to swap parts off of motors from 1970 to 1983 is the cool thing about datsuns.

Hmm, I dont know if the answer is buried in 6 pages of the thread, but would there be any issue in holding this event there? As in the local PD or rangers won't have an issue?

I know this is a day use park, and is open to the public. The only terms of use are no alcohol and leave by 10:00 PM. Hell, if we get enough old skool cars together to get kicked out of a large public park, I'm all for it!

It's not looking good for me. Both of my alternator belts are literally gone and I can't seem to get the damn thing back in there. For some reason, I can't get the alternator to line up right. Going to have to towed to the shop tomorrow. This sucks bad. Later, QD.

I got the top bolt situated. Now I am trying to get the bottom of the alt. to line up. If I can get this fixed, I'm definitely there. For some reason, it's not wanting to do so. I'll make something happen, though. Later, QD.

It looks like we're gonna be able to drive the GTS to the meet. Its finally alive. All we have left now is to install the clutch slave cylinder, some rear brake calipers, and then bleed the hydraulics. I think then we can make the maiden voyage. John and I were about to burn this car to the ground If changing this wiring harness did not work, but it worked. One bad wire has kept this car from running for 4 weeks

Those tercels are cool cars (bulletproof) I sold a nice 80 model about 1 year ago. I wish I kept it It got awesome mpg and was fun as sh** to drive. I actually have a parts car, and I know where another one is sitting near my shop. We've got a 1984 tercel and have been kicking around the Idea of running a 20v or a 4age in her. It should be an almost bolt in affair with your body style, and my body style. Your car looks way cooler though. Hope to see you at sonic or at the dam old skool meet.

Well the Z should come around a little faster now that I dropped my summer school class. Im going to pick up 2 days of work, for extra dough, then finish stock-piling datsun gofast parts. The body work should speed up now.

It's pretty nice at the low side of the dam. I chose this spot because it is usually 15 degrees cooler than at the top of the dam, and the sun drops behind the cliff pretty early. That looks like a nice solid corolla that you have and the price is fair. Is it 5-speed or automatic?
