I have found some amazing places to set up a video camera around here. Once I get a good map from the park service I am going to mark the spots, routes, and meeting areas. If anyone has a 2 way radio please bring it. We need as many as we can get to keep a caravan on this mountain. The same need exists for video cameras. If we can set up a couple of cameras at once we can get more views with the same number of runs by the cars. This could prove to be a huge time saver!
I am going to have us meet in the parking lot of a grocery store right at the bottom of the mountain. There is a self wash place there and some restaurants. I have found a great detail shop, but it is in the center of Chattanooga. That is only 3 miles away from the parking lot.
Once we are all together we will head up to my house. Since my place is so small I will have an outdoor sitting area set up. I will have a patio heater there. The garage will also have heaters. I am forcing the city to make the builder of a mini-mansion behind me fix the drainage problem that has my driveway almost blocked by sand bags. I am also going to go up the drive to the abandoned property and shovel the dirt and leaves off the drive. There is a really nice parking area up there.
I have found at least 10 photo/video spots in a 3 mile radius of my house. The hangliding overlook is a bit further away, but worth it. There is a gas station, grocery store, and bank within 300 yards of my house. The gas station makes decent food, but there is a mid priced restaurant 3 miles away that I plan for everyone to go to together. Other than that I plan a driving tour of the mountain. We will go to the hidden places on the mountain that most tourist never find. Depending on when people need to head out, I also have some ideas for dinner and cool things in Chatt.
If anyone wants to stay the night let me know. There is a B&B next door, and another one 5 blocks away. Once you get to the bottom of the mountain there are hotels of every variety within just a few miles.
