<--- prime example of money waster.

I've purchased things on a whim i never used. 40" lcd is just one example sigh..

    but back on topic.

Yep blu-ray has its issues right now. But what doesnt? No one cared to make this post a month before the HD dvd player release. it had issues also. Everyone saying the ps3 is gonna have issues, so did the xbox 360. Firmware issues dont matter as its a easy fix. hardware issues are what sucks. And yes 700,000 ps3'swill be available. 400k in US the rest worldwide. This isnt just a US market issue, its a world wide issue. Sony wont raise the ps3 price anymore. It will take the hit in order to penetrate the market.

    good stuff from dvdfile tho.

Does anybody in this thread already have an HD-DVD player? If so then what do you think about it, is it worth the money?? Im definately gonna be buying the upgrade for my XBOX 360 as soon as it comes out, whenever that is. Im a 100% Microsoft/XBOX supporter, I like the way they market there products and I like the products they give us. Im coming home from Iraq in the end of November and Im hoping that an HD-DVD upgrade for my XBOX 360 will be one of the first things I buy.

...how the hell is this at the top of this forum if the last post was in 06? oh well... this thread gave me a good chuckle considering how drastically the format war pulled a 180 in favor of blu-ray.

I actually reconsidered and saw the writing on the wall about a year ago, and bought a PS3 / Blu-ray this Christmas...

Guess I was wrong in the beginning, but made the right bet after all in the end

Yeah its over. Wal-Mart isn't selling HD-DVD anymore and Netflix gave it up. Blu-Ray is the winner.

Microsoft seriously ****ed up by not including HD-DVD in the Xbox by default if they were serious about this format war business. Speaking of no brainers not included in the Xbox, where's my built in wireless card?

well microsoft was trying to cut costs everywhere they could. their gaming division has a 6 billion loss since it was created. never made a profit. You can see their corners in the xbox360. reason why the disc scratch issue happened. is they asked a single piece to be reomved they didnt think was needed that saved em 3 cents a unit etc.

and since microsoft doesnt have that much a stake in the hd-dvd format, why would they include it in the box? ps3 for 600$ including a at the time 500$+ blu-ray unit. microsoft charing 400$ for not much in the box and then include at at the time 500$ hd -dvd drive? nah not those cheap ass abstards

btw, the reason this was at the top with no new posts is because someone voted in it without posting. noobs

still glad someone did bump this up as theres alot of news flying around nowdays.

Apparently alot of retailers are getting information on release dates for Blu-ray movies from paramount and universal who before were HD-DVd only. one of the said movies is a 2 disc special edition blu-ray transformers.

well like i said at 3am today. 5pm tokyo time, toshiba announced they are ceasing all HD-dvd production and authoring tools. They will continue support for those who still need it while phasing it out tho somehow.

Along with that. Universal studio's announced they are preping all their future titles for blu-ray release along with their catalog titles.

And yes I know the difference between 1080p and 1080i but to the average consumer does it really matter... the difference between the two??? Think about it....all marketing. And still half U.S consumers do not have LCd or plasma tv's.

HD-DVD is definitely not the way to go. It's already on its way out of the market...Blu-Ray has a bigger purchasing audience and it will stand the test of time!
