Ok it's like this...... HD-DVD does cost around $500 while Blu-ray is at Best Buys for $999.99 right now from Samsung and Sony to follow. Look people HD-DVD shows in highest resolution of 1080p and the Blu-ray in 1080i. Now!.... Most plasma and LCD and DLP tv's show in 720p(highest) with only a few that shows in 1080p and one(at best buys by Samsung) that shows in 1080i!! Yes sooner or later the plasmas LCD's and DLP tv's will show in 1080p and 1080i resolution. The PS3 is in blu-ray format but do you honestly think it's going to be the same as the Blu-ray DVD players???....NO!! Why in the hell would Sony have their PS3 put out the same 1080i format as there DVD player that's coming out??? That would be STUPID!! Why would you pay $999.99 for the DVD player when you can pay $599.99 for the PS3 and have the same player AND the game too!!! Come on Sony is not going to cut themselves like that!! The blu-ray player inside the PS3 will be a down graded version of the "real" blu-ray DVD players in the store. How downgradable??? Don't know. But I'll say this unless you are a COMPLETE GEEK you WILL NOT be able to tell the difference between 1080p and 1080i resolutions and even if you do it wouldn't matter becuase when you go to Best buys and walk through the tv section and see "demo" movies playing on the nice plasmas or LCD's tv's they are in 720p format!!! That's right...UNLESS other wise stated.

Look damn good doesn't!! So why would 1080p and 1080i make a difference?? Yes the X-Box360 will have a HD-DVD "add-on" for $179.99 in November that will show in 1080p format. $179.99 versus $500 for the HD-DVD player!! sound good....well it's what... $399.99(360)+179.99(HD-DVD add-on) which comes out to $480+tax so it's about the same, it;s just you have a great gaming system too. So there you have it. Hope that helps.

In the future when all plasmas and LCD and DLP tv;s show in 1080p and 1080i format then this discussion will be inrelavent. Oh you guys with a lot of money shouldn't even waste your time reading this cause you can just go buy whatever that sounds like it's the best and move on and so forth.... must be nice
