anyone seen this movie?
Val for President
yeah, we watched it in HS. but I can't say I remember it all that well.![]()
i gotta do a report on it this semester for class, so im thinking about just flat out buyin it
Val for President
it"s a great movie. peter sellers {pink panther guy} plays 3 roles: dr. stangelove, the president and the english guard at the airforce base. but you would never notice unless you knew. what kind of class makes you watch this movie? i wish i was still in school. i could write that report in a one sitting. Stanley Kubrick is a great director.
The pinnacle of the nuclear holocaust movies. Buy it and watch an american classic by Stanley Kubrick. That reminds me, I haven't watched it in a while.
Darth Vader is in it, well, James Earl Jones is anyway. In the least, you'd have to see it for two people Slim Pickens and Peter Sellers. They are sort of like a comic relief in a mostly serious movie.

well i have a question for you guys
what do you think kubrick was satirizing in the movie?
Val for President
i think he was satirizing the stat of the world at the time and relations during the cold war.
and how eager the military was to bomb the fuck outta each other.
let me know what you htink
Val for President
Never seen the movie but the bomb symbolized the technical superiority of the United States. Russia had the bomb shortly after the end of WWII but had no navigations systems for their ICBMs until the early 60s.
You could even write about how the image of the atomic bomb has changed since then and how all of the big countries in the world pick and choose who has access to nuclear arms (or try to at least).

I did a huge paper on that film for one of my film classes. I have since graduated with my film degree from Georgia State University, but I may still have the paper on my old computer. If I do, I will send it to you. You pretty much hit the nail on the head though.

Be careful reusing the report, teachers are pretty good at sniffing out different writing styles. Reword it if you get it.
As for the movie itself, awesome. You've got the bomber gap, the missile gap, the mineshaft gap. You've got the war room, which inspired one of our presidents to have one created I believe since there wasn't one. There's sexual innuendo throughout the entire movie. Go to www.imdb.com and type in the title of the movie and look through trivia, there's tons of good shit there.
o yea i wouldnt turn in his paper, i would just use it as a guidelineOriginally Posted by THX712517

More of a cliff notes that can help you along the way. I will hook my old computer up tonight and see if it is on there.
