It needs some stronger encouragement for lower lvl players like quests, plus the targeting system is hard to get used to, especialy using a xbox 360 controller and a keyboard

controls maybe similar to PS2, then again I had most commands macro'd into the keyboard, but hell this was a little more straight foward then anything else
dont worry about quests till you actually need to do them, just level up till you get your subjob, thats when you can solo alot of the beginning quests. BTW do not sell anything to merchants! sell them in stacks at the AH's
your on your own there bud.... hopefully it's better than the PC version... if not, i'm afraid you just wasted $60+

That's the new version you are playing. The new version came out for the 360 and the PS2. This game is only online play right, but i've also heard the new version is so much better than the old.

........The game is exactly the same as the PC and PS2 version.
The only thing different is the fact that you can play it on the XBOX 360.
The graphics have not been updated at all, but you might say it is slightly adjustable, but polygon-wise and other huge graphical advancements have not been made at all.
And if you returned the game, you obviously don't have patience, as stated in the previous thread of knowledge.
The game is not built to cater to casual gamers who want instant results, it's meant to be played over long periods of time...which is what an MMO generally is supposed to be.
Final Fantasy XI for the XBOX 360 includes the original game, Rise of Zilart, Chains of Promathia, and Treasures of Aht Urhgan (which you won't even touch until you've beaten the other two expansion packs....and in your case, never.)
I can't stress enough that this game is meant to be played over multiple years, and there's a reason why an old game was released onto a next-gen console... because the game is that good.

And I agree, the UI is easier than WoW. WoW is very eratic/confusing/spamming compared to the simple and to-the-point interface of FFXI.
World of Warcraft seems like a button mashing game where you have to have ultra fast fingers...very complex as far as menus go...since it's completely customizable.
Final Fantasy XI has a UI that is very consolidated and has the macro system controlled with CTRL/ALT 1-9, but the damage output spams on the screen, unless you change it to screen display...
If you have the PC Version of FFXI, you can download this program called Windower... and download plug-ins for it that show you EXP/hour, TP % from the party, etc. Very cool program... http://www.archbell.com/ffxi/
I'm used to the system of WoW/eq, where its point and click and knwoing when to click what, when you get into the end-game content its much more involves, knowing when to cast or not to heal,etc...
i'm NOT saying that FFXi is a crappy game by any means, i'm simply saying its not for me. I'm too adjusted to playing WoW with my big raid guild or EQ with my big raid guild. However if i was to play FFXI on PC again, i'm sure that UI program would make it easier for me to adjust.
and the UI of FFXI as far as macros and damage appearing on the screen is just the way EQ2 is, which is nice. you dont have to deal with txt spamming your chat window.
i still say you dont know an MMO until you kite something like old-school EQ1. lol

I am clearly aware of MMO's.
I've played just about every type of MMO out there, and I can tell which ones are worth playing and which ones aren't.
There's nothing wrong with World of Warcraft, it's just the endgame consists of people who make too many exceptions on specific loot items, which in turn will create tons of guild drama, not to mention.
How is he winning? All he has done is argued why FFXI is the best game hands down (every poll in the world says otherwise), and how WoW, SWG, EQ 1 & 2, Matrix, CoH, CoV, Guildwars, D&D, Lineage, Ulitma and every other MMORPG cant compare to his game. We are just saying that this game in our opinions suck and is not worth the time of day, but if it works for him then by all means!

I am still up...I went to the gym, but I got my THF to 15... working on getting THF to 30, then NIN to 30... then workin on THF60... then NIN 40... then THF 75... then WAR37... then NIN75... just like that.
I could never level up that fast...especially with a war
I got my new THF to 18 in a day but i am playing the THF on the Xbox and my RDM/WHM on my laptop hard at first to work with both but i got it down to an art now at lvl 14 I was soloing lizards in the dunes with the THF haveing the RDM/WHM heal. Im actually doing the same thing you are Outphase I have my subjob and started lvling the WAR Im takeing the WAR to 20 than THF to 40 than NIN 40 than WAR 37 than THF and NIN to 75
Ill start a WHM/SUM after that to help plvl the account on my laptop

If you didnt know about it yet after you get 1000 conquest points you can buy a +50% xp ring thats good for up to 1000xp helps to lvl real fast the first few lvls and its rechargeable for like 100points every time they do a redion update. just talk to the guy that casts signet on you and spend conquest points its under like misc items or something i think its the first choice
