Patriots shut down LB Brandon Spikes for the rest of the season. He's a FA at the end of the season. Sounds like he's done as a Patriot.

hes been injured all year. We re-signed Ninkovich, I dont see how we let Spikes go, hes 26 and our best run stopper.

he will be highly coveted in the offseason.

Patriots are going to be in a sticky situation. We will get healthy on defense but we will lose (potentially) a ton of guys starting with Talib and Spikes.

Then we have our offensive needs to fulfill, a WR and a TE for sho

No hes signed for 2 more years IIRC. But we run Twin TE sets normally, thats when we are at our best. Cant depend on Gronk so we need a big athletic TE (helps with run blocking, Redzone, etc).

    We have LOTS of needs.

I wouldnt be surprised if we get Hakeem Nicks on a small deal, go DEF in draft, and try to develop a TE. traditionally we draft our studs in late rounds

Injured....but played every single game. I think they realize Spikes is nothing more than a run stopper and not the 3 down LB they want. Theyre probably gonna pass on the high price tag and part ways.

With the right TE drafted, i could see Gronk being let go.

I agree. Depends how much they value TE over defense.

Agreed on Spikes, hes not the 3 down back they thought he was going to be which is why its not a HUGE blow to us, but still sucks.

I suspect 1st round we go DEF, and go deep in the draft for our next TE. Sign WR in FA

Several solid TE's in this year's draft and free agency.

As for defense, look for the Pats to start with DB's. Their front 7 will improve dramaticly with Wilfork and Mayo back.

Not sure Wilfork comes back, I think he will, but a 300+Lber with miles blows an achilles isnt reassuring.

I agree though , DBs, we love shutdown CBs, TEs i think we wait till deep in the draft

If Ebron or Amaro are on the board when the Patriots pick, i think they draft a TE rnd1.

depends on FA. I would say maybe, unless we get word we are signing a big time WR, at which point i would think BB goes heavy DEF. Brady would have Amendola, Gronk, Stud WR, 2 rookie WRs, we can grab a TE in 4-5th round or bring back Sudfeld IMO.

A lot of talk Stevie Johnson will be out of Buffalo before camp starts to free up cap space. Maclin and Cooper in Philly are both free agents and could probably be had for cheap. James Jones has hinted that he wants to test free agency.

It isnt unreasonable to think the Pats could pick up 2 legitimate veteran WR's to go along with the young but talented WRs that are already there.

TE's that can fill the role will be there to be had.

Lets not forget that the Pats have Tom Brady at QB. He doesnt need game changers to be great. He needs role players that he will make look like greats.

There is a good chance one of the 3 or 4 shutdown CB's will be available at the end of the first round. That is where I expect them to do. Next choice would be for a true pass rusher.

If the Texans have balls and know whats good for them, they'll draft Manziel.... but i suspect they will be pussies and trade down.

Manziel is legit. He's the 2nd coming of Joe Namath.... get drunk on saturday, throw touchdowns on sunday! Texans fans would go nuts for Manziel.

    Fun fact for the day.

Only 1 of the last 12 Heisman trophy winners has won a playoff game.

There are now 2 Heisman recipients with a playoff win.

Mark Ingram won the Heisman in 2009 and has playoff wins in 2011 and 2013 under his belt.

    Maybe this is just QB's?
