A lot of people make this same type of mistake, they automatically assume because somebody came before the other one, that because they played in an older era of basketball that they are better by default. Bad choice here. There's a difference between passing to kenyon martin at the top of the key and passing to karl malone at the top of the key, wouldn't you agree? Even though stockton has had superior teams to chris paul's teams lets compare # and talk some basketball.

You attempt 68 fewer field goals per year and you shoot 4% better? Do you think stockton is faster then paul? Do you think stockton is quicker then paul? Do you think stockton is stronger then paul? Do you HONESTLY think stockton would be able to stay in front of paul? And to never have averaged 20 ppg in a season.

I see what you are saying. But to say that stockton would dominate shows he has never watched the two play consistently. I've seen both play, stockton is a legend. No doubt about that. But I know Chris paul will go down as one of the best point guards to ever play the game as well. Dominate on both ends of the floor. Again, you're comparing incomparables. Stockton averaged 10./apg over a 20 year career. Looking at his stats, he did well above that career total in ten of his twenty seasons. In fact, in eight of those seasons, he averaged more assists per game than Paul has ever done. If you want to insist this is a comparison and you dig deeper, you'll see that Stockton still has the edge as the better point.
