The Hawks have the best lineup in Atlanta sports right now. I think they're poised for a finals run within the next couple years.
They led the entire game lastnite. They never should've lost and I'm still pissed about that. I think this is their year to go far. Hawks fan for life
Remember their defense is much much improved and that is what mainly winning their games so far. Don't hate QD
We'll see. Either you forget or never knew, but I've been watching the Hawks (Falcons and Braves too, for that matter) and the teams they've had for over 30 years now. So it's kind of second nature to assume they won't do anything.
Don't misuse words, 91s13. Later, QD.
As a regular season ticket holder........
The hawks are MUCH improved so far.
Defense is much better and quicker
6 guys averaging 10+ points per game
5 shooting 45% or better
Josh smith is down 20 lbs and looks far more athletic (averaging 2 blocks PG)
Tracy mcgrady is proving to be a good solid 8-10 points off the bench and can hit the big shot. He's also a great passer
Horford low post game looks much improved
we are outrebounding our opponents on the offensive and defensive ends
Basically we routinely have starters and bench players in double figures. No superstar but I think a depth not many other teams have.
The question is can we stay healthy. And can we keep our guys from getting away from the pass offense. Too many times we try to go 1 on1. We also need to improve on freethrows. Freethrows would have won the bulls game.
Teague looks like the point guard we have always needed. Don't sleep on Ivan johnson either.
The only albatross is joe johnson. He leads us in scoring aka 16ppg but problem is he shoots 38%, 40-50 shots is too many. He needs to keep his attempts down and live with others scoring.
We massively overpaid him but we are stuck with him. He either needs to get his fg% up or learn TP share points.
Hawks could easily be a 2-3 seed in the east vs a 5-6 they've traditionally have been.
I think they go to eastern conferences finals this year
Remember last year they took the bulls to game 6,
Also everyone got smaller this year, we got bigger. Rodmanovich, pachulia, horford, smith, williams, tmac, our front line is HUGE

What's this have to do with it, lolol?
Remember, though, we're only 5/6 games into the season. And a season where there are going to be a lot of games coming in faster than normal. We're going to see people get tired and sluggish real easy this year because of the lock-out. I'm not saying the Hawks won't make the post season. They usually always do. They just won't go deep in. They won't make it to conference finals. I'd be surprised to see them make it past round one, but I know they can.
Just seems like every professional Atlanta team gives up in the post season. The Braves do it. The Falcons do it. The Hawks do it. They always have. Later, QD.
I've been to all the games and watched all away games, and I'm a player. So I think my analysis is good.
Arrogant but whatever.
We are seeded 3 right now. We beat the number 1 team, lost to bulls by 2. If we win tomorrow and Saturday rematches, watch out
The accelerated season helps teams like us with good bench players. Our starters don't have to carry the game, like Miami, bulls magic need. 66 games is gonna beat on people like lebron Wade rose Durant who have to be on the floor to score.
5-6 games in we look much better than last year. And I watched every game last year.
We also had a TOUGH WEEK. Rockets in Houston, Miami, Chicago, rest, Miami, Chicago that's the #1 and 2 seeded teams in 1 week.

The braves have had a weak team last two years. Braves lost by 1 game to giants who were world series champions, this year they just had bad months and epic collapses at the end.
Falcons aren't the team they were last year, and their rivals are that much better.
Hawks I think if they stay healthy are poised to upset a lot of people

I've been to games since the 70's, watched games since then and I am/was a player (recreational and college). Your analysis IS good. Not questioning your logic at all, Mike. I agree with everything you're pointing out. Agree up to the point of the Hawks going deep in the playoffs.
When I say that pro Atlanta teams give up in the playoffs, I'm not talking about in recent years. I'm talking about all time. I'm talking about the Braves 14 straight pennants with only 1 World Series to show for it. You know, it's like tradition for Atlanta teams to get everyone hyped up and them let them down when it really counts.
Don't get me wrong, Mike, I am a Braves, Falcons and Hawks fan, dude. And I do wish the best for all three teams. Later, QD.
I am not a Hawks season ticket holder, nor have i watched the games since the 70s... however.... i did stay at a holiday inn express last night.
Can the Hawks win a championship? who knows, but i'll be pulling for them, along with the other 29 teams not named the Miami Heat.

The Hawks are not going to win anything, they wasted money on Joe hes no superstar they should have won that game against the bulls but instead Joe was tossing 3 pointers from half court while the littlest man on the Bulls was driving to the hoop. The only reason they went that far with the bulls last year was beacuse D-Rose was the only offense in clutch time they have a winner in RIP now so I dont see that happening again the shorter season will make the Hawks look good.
