Well I've never had a problem with it catching on fire, or freezing...I bought a new PS2 when the slim version launched because my fat Ps2 stopped reading any and all discs. Personally I like the slim one better.

Never had any issues with it at all. I've played it for hours and leave it running sometimes at night with a dvd in it after I fall asleep...not once has it frozen up or anything. I guess I'm lucky.

No problems with my thin PS2 here. And I've used it for hours on end when I would do endurance races on GT4.

yeah thin ps2 here too. use it allt he time. and it does have a fan in it. because i can feel the heat being pushed out by something on the back. plus, just to make sure, i usually sit it on something to where the left side is in the air because ive noticed thats the hottest side. and so far, no issues.

Now why would we want to ruin a perfectly good PS2 by taking it apart?

My older fat PS2 used to overheat and make really bad clicking sounds while playing games. The slim PS2 has had no problems and works fine.
