Glad to see the sport finally recognized to be on par with sports such as MLB and the NFL. Very excited for the first fight on FOX's network!

i LOVE boxing.... but boxing fans need to get real and be honest with themselves. Boxing has been on the down slide for years...... When Paquiao and Mayweather finally retire..... that's probably gonna be the nail in the coffin.

MMA gets bigger every year and there's no logical reason to believe its gonna slow down anytime soon. Boxing and MMA are heading in completely different directions.

Yea, UFC wouldn't have grown so quickly if boxing didn't suck so much cock now.

Boxing has never went down. In fact it is still as strong as ever. Boxing is a world sport. Go to other countries and you will see it is still very much watched. Mexico, Puerto Rico, Phillipins(sp), Japan,UK,Germany etc.. The only people that say is on the "Slide" is watchers such as yourself, the once-in-awhile-boxing watchers. They only watch hight PPV profile fights mainstream boxing. I cant say the same for MMA. Ive notice its only popular her in the USA. As far as Mayweather and Manny leaving. That wont affect a thing. Thats why promotors build and hype other fighters

UFC is the new WWF. ^^^ Like I said once in a while high profile ppv fight watchers. Try watching other fight other than main stream fights. There are many exciting fighters. such as Brandon Rios, Sergio Martinez, Humberto Soto, Nonito Donaire, .Pongsaklek Wonjongkam

MMA is huge in Japan, england, canada, australia, brazil. UFC did a show in the middle east and sold out. BJ Penn vs Frankie Edgar 1 was in Dubai. Funny you call me an uneducated boxing fan when you are CLEARLY uneducated in MMA.

look at these ppv buy rates, the ONLY boxing names on the list are Mayweather and Pacman..... regular boxing matches dont sell shit. You think Klitschko fights sell????? To think Pacman retiring would have no effect on boxing is absolutely fucking retarded. Manny Paqcuiao is life support for the dying sport of boxing.

Boxing is a sport ruined by corruption and politics, the sport of boxing itself is great.... but it's legitimacy has long been ruined. Paper champions fighting hand picked opponents in fabricated weight classes to call every fight a title fight.

Yes after they retire boxing will still be the same. After Julio Ceaser Chavez, Mike tyson, Dela hoya etc they retired boxing just picked up another super star to take there places. I cant agrue about the corruption part. Those articals dont mean a thing, those are bias from a certain group. as far as the Klitschko he could sell out, its all about location

everything sinfix said is true. EVERY country in the the ufc has held an event at has sold out. There is a reason why FOX is picking up events. It is the biggest sports network, and fx is one of the top viewed cable networks now. And boxing is on a decline. The generation is dying off. Still a great sport but mma covers every aspect of fighting only 8oz gloves are in the way of who is a better fighter all around.

You also know Pride is MMA and isn't US based right? MMA has been huge all over the world for a long time.....the US was just the last place to catch on.

Bringing this back from the dead because of this weekend! both heavyweights have great records and I like them both. I see Cain winning, broader shoulders more wrestling, simple as that.
on another note, you will never see a fighter get away with this kind of disrespect in the ufc.

in fairness....... you'll never see a fighter in the UFC get attacked by an announcer like that either. If Larry Merchant got in Nick Diaz's face like that, he would have got knocked out.

I'm not completely sold on Cain yet. I think hes the favorite to win this fight but i think hes in trouble if he cant take Junior down. JDS will win if he stays on his feet.

true to an extent, but i think that would equate to punching joe rogan, which would result in a beat down of diaz by everybody else close enough to jumping in the cage. Then dana would pull his contract and never let him fight again in the ufc...I would love to see mayweather come to the ufc and try that, or just to fight jose aldo or kenny florian

MMA>Boxing in terms of views and revenue, sure the boxing payout may be more but less people are watching it every year. I feel the pacman vs mayweather will be the last "big names" in awhile...you watch sports programming the only boxers ever mentioned are those 2, when they leave the sport will slide some more. MMA is just a more desirable sport to watch in this generation, boxing had its run and its glory days, its MMA and more prominently the UFCs turn

Joe Rogan would never insult a fighter like Merchant did. Rogan respects the fighters.... however..... Diaz would beat Rogan half to death.
