    Default Jimmy Clausen

what do you guys/gals think about him? I was reading on espn about how he throws a perfect spiral, and makes tough throws look so easy and all this mumbo jumbo. I like the guy, but IMO it will take more than his perfect spirals to be a "winning" QB in the pros.

I don't like him, and I can't believe anyone would want him over Colt McCoy or Tim Tebow. He only looked good his last season, and Notre Dame doesn't play any defenses that are considered great. Golden Tate should get more credit for those stats considering he caught more than half of Clausens touchdowns.

That guy made some amazing catches and bailed Clausen out so many times, but that's the job of a good receiver. I think Clausen will be a good NFL QB. He's been tested playing for that horrible ND team during his first two years and that's a good thing. I think his strongest point is completion % and he didn't throw a lot of interceptions during his last year. That shows he makes good decisions. Remember during his sophomore year they were horrible and he was forced to throw the ball on 3rd and long a lot and a lot of pressure was on him because the running game sucked. Even with that he still threw more TD's than interceptions.

I think he will be ok,but I still think Colt McCoy will be the best pro QB.

I agree. It doesn't matter how well you throw a ball...if you can't read a defense and make quick decisions you'll be throwing those perfect spirals to the DB's...

With that said, I haven't seen enough of Clausen play to make a valid argument about where he should go in the draft.

McCoy and Tebow will be 2 or 3 years in the making before they even have the slightest chance of being a successful NFL QB. Tebow is even further behind the curve than McCoy is also. Claussen, on the other hand, has spent his college career in a pro style offense learning under one of the better offensive coaches in the country. Dont let his failure as a head coach diminish just how good Weis is with an offense. Claussen will be more pro ready on day 1 than either Matt Ryan or Sanchez were. If I was one of those in the war room for St. Louis I would be campaigning to take Claussen, not Bradford, as the #1 pick if we were set on a QB.

This is why Tebow is at best a 4th round pick for anything more than moral support or to appease a fan base (Jax). I can think of 4 QB's in this draft I would rather have starting for me on day 1 before I would look at Tebow.

    Bradford
    McCoy
    Pike
    Lefevour

Lefevour has some pretty good stats, IMO underrated simply because he went to a smaller school. He should be a damn good qb.

Yes he will, but he will have growing pains early because he did play at a lower level school.
