Wow. The movie was better than expected, although not too original. Cameron just kinda fused aspects from Ferngully, the Matrix, Pocahontas, and Dances With Wolves and merged it all together in a beautiful 3d package.

I loved the juxtaposition between the stripped down military complex in its shades of gray and the LSD-inspired candy colored rainforest, very well thought out sets.

But the lack of originality killed it; visually the military equipment looked like everything else from Terminator, the Matrix, Judge Dredd, etc and the jungle was basically Ferngully but in real life. Literally, to name the planet Pandora and the element Unobtanium, BORING. Character development, whats that? Only the main marine changes throughout the movie, the other characters were like caricatures of liberal scientists, right-wing jarheads, pompous capitalist. Its a movie that is essentially popcorn fluff disguised as an allegory on modern affairs, tries to be deep with an intense message but doesnt sell the point.

Overall the movie was entertaining and my parents paid so I didnt waste any money on it, I'll definately watch it again.

Movie was ok... at best.... I hated the whole jarhead references seeing i was the only one in the theater it was sort of insulting to see a Marine kill his own. But hey the graphics were crazy and the 3D was the shit. Will see on Blu Ray

the marine never technically killed his own.. they were mercenaries when on that security guard. Not official soldiers or marines.

Unless u were referring to his own as fellow humans. in which case meh. i didnt mind.

Saw it last night in 3-D. The woman and I are fantasy lovers so we had high expectations. Best movie I have seen in a long time. Thoroughly pleased, will watch again.

I thought it was a great movie, but the thinly veiled liberalism did get kind of annoying, as did the MANY hints that the military is nothing more than blood thirsty savages.

Obviously the biggest entertaining aspect was the visual appeal. Hands down the best CGI I've ever seen. The attention to detail on the Pandora world is amazing, everything feels real and not just some computer animation.

The story is pretty much Pocahontas but like 700 years in the future.

Decent character development, and you definitely begin to root for certain people to come out on top, which I think is another important aspect of the movie. If you actually care about the characters and what happens to them, then the filmmaker did their job.

I saw the movie last week. I honestly believe this movie was only good due to the imaginative setting/characters and animation/CGI.

The storyline to me was similar to The Last Samurai, or as other people have said, Pocahontas, mixed with Pokemon. But this movie was TOO manipulative. The story was completely one way, it pulls you to root for the good guys and hate the bad guys. And the social comments were all too clear.

Overall, I'd recommend it; but I wouldn't consider it one of my favorites.

Great movie tho. I saw it in 3d, sat on the front row, hurt my neck + eyes and still loved it. I'd like to check it out again and not be so close so i could get the full 3d effect.

it was good, the only thing groundbreaking was the CG and camera work.

Storyline has been done 1039423 times before.

IMO its def a MUST see (3D or not), it was a GREAT movie, very entertaining, slow at times but final battle scene was good.

Best movie of all time? no fucking way not even close.

Yea, if someone is going to see it, see it first in 2d. Thats what I did, and other than a couple things, the 3d was no better.

The movie itself was amazing. Honestly one of the best I have ever seen. it gave me the same feeling as when I watched Star Wars (the Original, not the shitty new ones) for the first time. Blown away, gone back to see it 2 more times since then.

I thought it was a great 3D movie. I hear that James Cameron might make a sequel right away if there is a big enough fanbase.

Thats a guarantee just b/c how much it made. The next film will prolly be a lot cheaper since they can reuse that world in the sequel. The same way grand theft auto reuses past games to set the foundation for the new one or reuse the city and just add a few new things
