The only downside to Forza is how much in-game money you don't make by racing. It'll take a LOT of racing to buy and tune lots of cars.

It really isn't bad. Up the difficulty and do the high profile races and you will make plenty of money. Plus, the game gives you a new car with every driver level you go up, so you don't really have to buy many cars. I would definitely advise looking at a list of the awarded cars so you don't prematurely buy an expensive car that you will get for free later in the game.

I prefer GT and even i have to admit Forza 3 is something special.

It's not that. I know the list of cars you get for every level. What I'm saying, is if you like to just mods lots of cars and see what they do and what you can do with them, is almost unattainable. I've had to sell previously modded cars, just to mod new ones. The only assist I have on is ABS, so I'm getting 65% extra money each race, but it's still not enough.
