Is it just me or can some of the best voices be completely DESTROYED after they go Mainstream and society gets a hold of them???

Take Whitney Houston.....She started out with "Saving all my love for you" and "The greatest love of all" powerful ballads. By the release of her 3rd album she's full blown mainstream and putting out crap like "I'm your baby tonight" and "My love is your love". Granted she had a few personal mishaps along the way (which is what they all seem to go through lol), but none the less it shows the demise of a great voice.

John Mayer....IMO he is another great artist, vocal and guitarist. But the record label insists that he puts out BS like "your body is a wonderland" and "Bigger than my body" which are great songs BUT they don't nearly begin to surface his amazing talent.

OH!! And don't get my started on Jennifer Hudson!!! Woman wins GRAMMY for her performance in Dream Girls in which she sang (in case you missed it) "And I am Telling You" She hits the mainstream roller coaster and puts out Garbage such as "Spotlight" cute song....but can't we get this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6BWU5dCYHkY or is that too much for mainstream.

The list can go on!!! Does any one else feel that way that I feel? I love music, and all the components of a great song. It pisses me off when great artists don't get the recognition they deserve for the amount of talent they posses.
