    Cool Mortal Kombat 9!

    I'm not sure how many Mortal Kombat nuts are on here, but I'm a huge fan of the series even though they've sort of gone downhill lately. I'm a bit of a comic nut too, so Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe was sort of entertaining, but I enjoy my Mortal Kombat to be over-the-top and unnecessarily violent. I'm hoping they release the two proposed downloadable characters for MK vs. DCU though.

    From what I've read, Ed Boon (Creator of MK) wants to give it a "Gears of War" look...all dark and gritty. I've always imagined that this is they way the games should be. There's no rainbows and sunshine in ripping a guy's spine out and thrusting it through his kidneys, but the bright colors and all don't seem to match.

    With Deadly Alliance, Deception, and Armageddon, I saw a bunch of stuff I really liked but it wasn't all in one place, if you know what I mean.

    Deadly Alliance had a great "unlockables" system, Deception had more Fatalities per character and great deathtraps in the levels, Armageddon had a HUGE selection of characters, a great Konquest mode, and Kreate-a-Fighter, but did away with the character-specific Fatalities. Kreate-a-Fatality was cool and it was probably included because of the sheer number of fighters and the fact that you could create your own fighter. Boon's Twatter page mentions a lot about motion-capturing Fatalities so I think the character specific ones are making a comeback.

    I hope to see a good mix of all these plus-points in the next game. What do you guys think? What characters do you want to see? How much do you even like Mortal Kombat?

    wish it would go back to 2D

    i havent really liked a MK since UMK3,which imo is the best mk game....since then they tried to add so much and make it to complex...example:fighting styles,weapons etc..

    Yea I could live without multiple fighting styles and weapons...I mean it's a nice touch, but it really is too much. It'd be cool if they leave the weapons in, because they're part of some characters' personas (Kano's knives, Baraka's blades, etc.) but I won't be wanting for anything if they aren't included.

    I sort of like the 3-D aspect mostly because of the graphics and the ability of deathtraps, but it gets sort of confusing when you're trying to jump and you end up sidestepping, and boring because it's really easy to just walk in a circle and dodge all the projectiles. I'm down with 3-D though.

    All the MK Classics should be in there. I remember they took Liu Kang out of a couple of the games, and he returned as a zombie in Armageddon, but his ending said he got his soul back or something. I think Cyrax is my favorite character though.

    Best one was MK3 the original. UMK3 was cool but overdone. Kabal was the man!

    yea mk3 was good but it was missing the fighters........how can u have a mk game without scopion?

    yea the 3d can be nice,but idk...this is just one those games that i think is better as a fast style 2d fighter not a complex 3d fighter like say DOA

    I wouldn't call it horrible, but it left me wanting more. The controls were sort of clunky on it though. Anyone else experience this?

    I hope they animate endings in this, rather than just having a still image and a little story. At the end of Armageddon, they had all the characters doing a kata with their ending story being spoken. Not really much to look forward to.
