ok first and foremost, IMO this is NOT a kid's movie.

If you like animated films with a dark twist i.e. Nightmare Before Christmas, I'd recommend this movie.

When I first saw trailers for this movie I honestly thought it was gonna be another Tim Burton wannabe flick. Instead, I found this movie as a visually stunning masterpiece.

Imagine Alice in Wonderland infused with Tim Burton's demented perspective. That's exactly what this movie is, and yes, it is damn trippy. Although the movie looks like a 2 hour long acip trip, it actually has a deep storyline that evokes many human emotions that usually make people feel extremely uncomfortable.

All in all, this movie is definitely something that you should watch, but I know for a fact that not everyone will like it. IMO it is a movie that is similar to Trainspotting or Requiem for a Dream, in which it is very disturbing, yet very human. I watched this with little to no expectations, but at the end I was intrigued in wanting to know more about the movie. The story in the movie has many plot holes, but that's only because the book encapsulates and fills those holes.

I would rate this film 9/10, deducting a point for the plot holes. If you're heavily induced on medication, I wouldn't recommend watching this movie, although it would be visually orgasmic.
