Default football talk: vick to be released within a day.

so of course everyone is aware of his situation. I was watching espn this morning and a reporter was standing outside of his home in hampton, VA. the reporter was basically saying vick is expected to be released within a day and how his agent was saying how he stayed in shape throughout this whole ordeal. Vicks agent expressed how much vick is looking forward to getting his life back on track. Heck I really couldnt tell he was going through any type of financial problems considering that nice ass house that he living in, but who knows. Rather he was just a average person or athlete, i think its time to just stop beating him down already. you would think that he has learned something out of this.

Yeah that's the word, a film crew is ok I guess, but the media is something else...then one of the female anchors on ESPN had the nerve to say "why is he driving instead of flying" what the hell!?

some of those anchors be on that dumb stuff, but trent dilfer was saying that vick should still be able to provide a good addition to a team, trent also mentioned that he needs a good QB coach who will be able to further fine tune his skill. its obvious that vick is a proven winner, but he just needs the right scheme that fits him just like any other QB.

It won't ever happen in this news-happy world, but it would be nice to let the man go on about his business without a camera at every angle of him. He committed a crime, he paid his debt so let it be. Later, QD.

Vick's biggest hurdle will be those PETA folks....if they will let him be a team will offer him something...if not he will become a media side show wherever he goes

yeah for real. I disagree with folks trying to hold him from playing QB again, i mean heck, if he was a bad QB, i really dont think he would have been drafted as one. won a playoff game in lambeau, a few pro bowl appearances, whats the fuss about? he not exactly the greatest, but he sure is far from the worst to ever do it.

Listening to the radio today they made a few very good points about where Vick ends up. They brought up NE, Pitt, and a few other places. EVERYONE that I have heard all agree on 1 thing though. Vick's days as a starting QB are pretty much over. He will be a role player and back-up until he leaves the NFL. He is injury prone so all that running around isnt going to happen. He's not much of a thrower, or very good at reading defenses so he's not a drop back QB. Vick's ONLY claim to fame is that he was a good runner. That skill will give him the ability to win any game he plays in, but not the ability to win consistently.

There are alot of highly drafted QB's that sucked in the NFL, even after a short period quality play.

The complete 04 season I believe and in spot places everywhere else. I dont think he really spent extended time injured except when he broke his leg.

yeah thats really the only time i could remember him being out for a long period. but what player doesnt get hurt? look at tom brady last season. brady was just setting back in the pocket and boom! he got put out the whole season. There are plenty of QB's that started last season that vick is probably better than (alex smith, culpepper, rosenfells) only time will tell. if a team picks him up, most likely he will be utilized in a wildcat type formation.

He has had 7 years as a pro and got consistently worse every season. He isnt a threat to throw the ball to beat you.

They can try to throw him in the wildcat, but that wont last long. GM's will realize that he isnt big enough to go inside so they will only concentrate on the outsides when he is in the game.

No one is going to use him as a starter because he doesnt have the talent to play every down. How much of the quickness did he lose? How much of his limited knowledge of defenses did he forget?

You can actually blame that on the multiple coaching staff changes and different offensives he had to run. Honesltly any QB's stats would have suffered in those conditions.

I agree with you on this only because that's a college formation. That's like running GT's forumation in the pros. It may be affective the 1st year, but by the next year everyone has caught on to your scheme.

I have to disagree. The NFL is a bussiness and Vick brings in the $$$. Someone is going to take a chance on him. Also, rumor is Vick is still in great shape, so we will have to see about his speed.

Also, I like have everyone downs him about this defense scheme reading abilities, but it's kinda hard to break down a defense when your offensive line is colapsing on you in a matter of seconds every play. So fault them as much (if not more) then I do Vick.

OC's didnt cause him to have sub 55% completions for his career. They didnt cause him to have a fumble for every 2.6 TD passes or.78 rushing TD's for every fumble. Then you have 1.35 TD's for every INT, which shows he doesnt read defenses well. Vick is a turnover machine. Career td's 92, turnovers 79. A whopping 1.16 TD's per turnover.

I know someone will pick him up. They will most likely offer him a 1 year contract for about 1 million plus incentives if he gets on the field. The problem is, its going to be a team like the Raiders or the Browns. I dont think the Pats or another established team will want him in their locker room. It simply wont be worth the media blasting them up and down.

You cannot stay in football shape in prison. There is just so much more to being in proper shape than running a 40 and lifting weights. Vick has never been all that intelligent either so learning a new playbook will not be an easy task for him.

No, it isnt easy to do, but it still needs to be done. The problem is, a lot of people will never find fault with Vick. Everything he does wrong is someone else's fault. Its the O-lines fault he puts the ball on the ground, it's the environments fault he gets entertainment from torturing dogs, its the OC's fault he doesnt know where a safety is. When does it stop?

nobody ever said vick was not at all at fault, but some people try to blame him for everything that was wrong. see what alot of people fail to realize is this, vick has gotten the job done in atlanta even with different coaching changes and a bad o-line, offensive scheme, and young receivers. you can have a QB whos rating is through the roof, but it still may not translate into consistent winning, just look at drew brees. vick is a proven winner, and thats why he was getting paid good to be a starting QB. there are plenty of starters right now who vick is just better than rather you like him not, all off the field issues aside. this is about his ability to win. when espn analyists speak of him, they dont say things like "oh look at his stats, he cant cut it, blah blah" because they know how good he is and how much better he can be, its simple as that. sometimes you just have to recognize talent when you see it.

What has anyone blames Vick for other than what he has admitted to? He enjoys causing other pain, I guess you dont see anything wrong with that.

Yes, he has natural athletic ability, but not the mental ability to use it. I'm also not sure about the whole winner thing either. Vick was the starter for 6 seasons (I wont count the season he broke his leg). He couldnt manage a winning season back to back in his time here. That is not the sign of a winner. Dan Marino spent most of his career on far worse teams than Vick did, but he managed to have winning seasons more times than not. At the same time, many of the years Vick was in Atlanta, the NFC South was a laughing stock. Carolina was typically the best team and even they never made it out of the wildcard round of the playoffs. The 1 exception was NO in 06.
