Default 80GB or 160GB PS3... Opinions on which one to get

Ok, so this weekend I plan on making a purchase on a PS3. I have one problem: Indecisiveness on which one to get. I looked them both up, and the only difference is the HDD size, with the exception that the 160GB one gets Uncharted as an added bonus. I've been leaning towards it because it's really like spending $460 on the system and then $40 for the game, and it seems resonable.

I guess what I'm asking is if there is something more I'm missing in regards to differences in the systems. People that have one, please chime in.

NOTE: I do have an XBOX 360 Elite, so don't say anything about that system at all. This is a PS3 question, that's it. Thanks.

80 gb should be enough unless you plan on downloading blue ray movies and putting your music on it.

I have a 80gb and the memory is more than enough for my needs, as I only have 6 games on the hard drive and about 200 songs on it

My 80gig is bigger than I'll ever need. I'd go with it.

P.S. my 80 is probably bigger than I'll ever need, and Uncharted is a good game!

I say go w/ the 160 even though if you run out of space on the 80 you can always install a larger HDD later (and it wont void your warranty)

And saying the 80 is all you need,, dont forget alot of games now set aside up to 5gb for save space. I thought my 60 was gonna be enough but after a years it's pretty much full, but I have 3 episodes of Metaloclypse, 3 episodes of Family Guy, Jumper, The Dark Knight, Lord of War, Robot Chicken Starwars Ep. 2, and a bunch of music and photos on it.

so just remember you can always upgrade HDD later

I would go with the 80G. That's what I have and I have 8 games, about 500 songs, a few game trailer movies (maybe 8 or so) about 9 demos that stay on there and I still have PLENTY of room. The only game I have that takes up uber space is Gran Turismo 5 Prologue. But, even at that, I'm still ooooozing with room. I don't plan on downloading any movies on mine and the music is because some games allow you to play your music while playing the game...like Xbox did...30 YEARS AGO!!! ;-) 80 should be good unless you're super hardcore out the box.

Ooooh. Good one. I'm not sure all together. Close to a GIG if you do all the updates. 2 if you grab all the downloadable content. You can get D1 vids, option vids, Best Motoring vids, and a few others. All told, it'll end up being close to 2 gigs for EVERYTHING. I doubt you'll want EVERYTHING, but even at that, you won't use a full gig between 3 or 4 other games. GT5P is a heavy one though. Out of all the games I have and have played, it far surpases every other game in memory used and thusly load time.

I know GTA4 takes 3.5 gb's of space, Assassin's Creed takes up around 2GB due to the size of the world in it, Fall out 3 I have no clue but I'm sure it's alot, PS HOME sets aside 3GB for saves and spaces. but alot of games out now don't take up too much.

Yeah. Overall, I think there may be 5-10 games tops that take up a gig or 2. The other HUNDREDS are barely noticeable in your memory. And even then, if you use your PS3 like a PC (cuz that's what they really are), then you'll need to upgrade either way.

80gb is more then sufficient. i have over 30 demos and 5 or so full games and tons of music and i am fine right now on my 80 gb.

unless your using it as a media center go with the 80gb.. games will get old and you will end up deleting the saved games on it. so you will most likely never be full.

No you can backup your saves to your thumb drive! Then the account you got to log back into. The games you have to redownload again. Ps3 store stuff you purschace is re downloadable for free

I ended up getting the 160gb anyway. I felt it was a good price considering it gives you Uncharted and a voucher for an online game download. Minus those two things, the system itself runs about $430. So to me, it makes sense. I got double the space as well as 2 games for not that much more versus getting the 80gb for $400 and then shelling out $40 or so on a game...
