    Default New Edguy album.

I think the album is pretty solid. They changed their style up just a bit on it, but still has all the Edguy roots. Might not be as good as Rocket Ride, but very very solid, especially for branching out a bit. What did you guys think of it? Not sure if there are too many Edguy fans on this Site...

I youdtubed it. Sounds like 80s rock. Not passing judgment, just making an observation.

They are actually a power metal band. Tons of talent in Edguy. And Tobias's side project Avantasia is also pretty damn good. But id have to disagree that they sound like "80's rock." Kind of a broad statement to make, or in your case, broad assessment.

It may be broad, I only based it off of the first youtube video I found but seriously, you don't hear any 80s in this?

I mean, it's a little harder and a little darker, but come on, that's got an 80s sound. I could easily hear Skid Row playing that song. Just for reference:

I don't know I can't place my finger on exactly what it reminds me of. Maybe I'm a decade off, it just kind of has that generic hard rock sound.

    Edit:

Hmm, maybe a little more of a Judas Priest.

Haha, not trying to knock them or anything, just trying to figure out what it reminds me of.

Ooo, maybe Megadeath. Haha I dunno.

I think its good you took the time to listen to some of the music, and even tried making comparisons, because I like spreading the word of metal, but your argument is way off.

Edguy really has no similarity to any of the bands you posted in comparison. Skid Row is a great band, and I love their music, but the tone, lyrics, type of metal, singing, guitar work have little in common. Sometimes you might be able to compare sebastion(sp) Bach to Tobias, MAYBE.

Judas Priest is one of my favorite bands of all time, but they are soo far from Edguy's style of music its not even funny. You seriously think Halford can be compared to anyone. He is one of a kind, and Tobias is one of the most talented singers ive ever heard. And Judas priest is a lot more heavy then Edguy, and from a waaaaay different era of music, and metal.

Megadeth is another way different example. They are heavy, but sound nothing like power metal in the least, and Edguy for the most part is power metal.

This proves a point of mine though, that Edguy is very talented and changes up their music often and keeps things interesting. Despite your comparisons being way off, you listed 3 totally different types of metal trying to compare to Edguy, showing that they are one versatile(sp) band. Thanks for taking general interest though, but this thread was more directed towards metal heads that have been following Edguy for a while now and their thoughts on their new album compared to previous albums. I do not think there are many metal heads on IA at all, this thread proves it.
