Granted it's called out that it is expanding on the GT5:P game but that was simply a tease of what is to come.

Gran Turismo 5 (also known as GT5) is the fifth edition of the Gran Turismo series. Expanding on the Prologue version, it will be the first of the main numbered series to be released for the PlayStation 3. Gran Turismo 5's release date has been confirmed to be Christmas 2009 by SCEE Vice President James Armstrong in an interview with Spanish website El Financiero. He is quoted as saying

"For next year, for southern Europe we are developing a new game thriller, in which the player may be designing their own history, and the new version of Gran Turismo, which will at Christmas."

It has been confirmed that the Top Gear test track will be featured in the game. It will also include damage, day and night cycles, and changing weather conditions. Aswell as an open airfield to test out your car and do your own road tests.
