i guess you were one of the people waiting on the scene where a scientist in a lab coat tells you what the monster is, why it's there, and how to kill it.

how come the handycam lasted like 15 hours with no battery change, survived a hellicopter crash, but gave out when a bridge collapsed? that's realistic.

You know, there's this unbelievably crazy feature they just started adding to video cameras. They call it an "on/off button". really advanced sh*t right there.

From a film direction and marketing standpoint, it was brilliant

From a "I'm bored, let's go see a movie" standpoint it was much less fulfilling.

Not saying you're stupid if you didn't like/get it, just saying it's not the right movie for you. Some people go just to be entertained for a couple hours, other enjoy being immersed into the film. Different strokes.

i actually liked it. if you followed any of the HUGE viral marketing / ARG stuff they did, its a lot more fulfilling. I thought the film style was pretty cool, and refreshingly different.

ALSO i HATE when people say that crap about the battery life. Think logically about this - the battery only had to last like an hour and a half - the duration of the movie. The tape is being played seamlessly from beginning to end - so when the plot jumps ahead in time, its not skipping footage that was recorded; The tape had been stopped and started again. As for it surviving the helicopter crash... cmon, its hollywood, and if every movie stooped to that level of realism, cinema would be pretty boring.

Cloverfield was f*cking great and I've got the DVD reserved at Moviestop. The first hand filming was brilliantly done and, despite the camera's seemingly invincibility, the film came off as a very realistic first-person point of view. So far, I've only gathered two complaints about this movie from critics.

    It made me sick.
Motion sickness much? These are usually the same people that get sick in a car when they're not driving. You shouldn't try to judge a movie's content with your weak stomach. BTW, sitting further away from the screen helps to counter the "I can't handle this, I'm gonna puke" effect.

    I don't know what's going on.
Aww, they didn't spoon-feed you the story? That's a real shame. God forbid you grasp the concept of first hand accountability and the possibility of not knowing what's going on. Do you think the people at the WTC knew what was going on when the planes hit? No. Same concept. If you can't think outside the box, go back to watching Spongebob Squarepants.

dumbass have you ever walked around with a video camera? That's not how you see, its how the ****ing camera sees. The whole point of the movie was to portray what would happened if something like Godzilla attacked a city without making it a cheezy story. Though the cinematography wasn't what people would call professional quality, it is a genious idea and took some serious planning to actually accomplish.

I saw this in theaters actually not expecting much from it. I ended up liking it...a lot. I thought the camera style actually made it much more intense in some parts. For instance, the scene where they get on the street, see the monster ahead, and then the soldiers attack it from behind them. It felt like you were actually there.

I'm not saying it's the greatest movie of all time, but it's definitely quite enjoyable.

Oh and another pet peeve, I can guarantee you that there are thousands of movies in existence that you'd have more trouble watching than Cloverfield. You can hardly call it "the worst movie ever"
