I think Memphis will win because they are on fire right now, but after watching Kansas handle UNC pretty well, I don't think it will be easy.

I just lost $150 on the UNC game and I still can't believe how ****ty they played
So I hope Memphis loses, b/c I bet my same friend that Memphis will lose in the finals. Man I hope I get this one right

Memphis. I had them to win it all last year, I had them again this year. I really don't know why, I just like them.
for all of you who thought UNC was going to win. haha cause you know why? hansborough isn't as good as people think he is. he had an easy season but when it came to the line, he choked. he shouldnt have had that player of the year. hes a bust when he enters the NBA.
You're right, Hansborough isn't as good as ppl make him out to be. He still has some skill when it comes to offense, but is horrible when it comes down to defense. I really don't think he can make it in the NBA due to the fact he scores most of his points on fast breaks and free throws. I think he will become a above average player if he can improve his defensive skills. I pull for UNC each year and I just couldn't believe how UNC choked in the first half and I blame that on coaching.
Memphis is not a 3 point team, but more of a inside game team and they like to push the ball. If UNC took quality shots, it would have not allowed Memphis to get a 28 point lead in the first half. I still can't believe all the wild shoots UNC was throwing up and the lack of defense when it came to the paint.

you guys are smoking Crack. Hansborough overrated?
Hes a JUNIOR and has VASTLY improved over last season.
Most of his points on Fast Break? He has a KILLER 15-17 foot jumper, and i dont need to expound on his inside game.
He needs to bulk up for the NBA, hes def quick enough and his work ethic is one of the best in college basketball. Remember hes only 21 if that. I see him being a good player in the NBA, he wont dominate, he will be a great role player or 6th man. Think Jerry Stackhouse, Michael Finley, etc.
As far as Kansas beating UNC, they played UNC exactly how they should have, and UNC was stunned. I think it was more of Kansas had more heart than UNC. I really think UNC was cocky and they couldnt lose. Once they got a 10 point bump put on them they fell apart. The announcer was right, UNC was trying to take the game back with 1 shot instead of playing team basketball.
to me thats where hansborough still has alot to learn, he did a Dirk and didnt take charge and be a leader. After the 4th missed 3 pointer being down 20 points i would have kicked my teammates asses.
Kansas is EXTREMELY fast an they played PERFECT against a UNC team that was at best mediocre. They shut down Hansborough with defense and UNC just couldnt get in a rythm all night.
Memphis has got some speed an big guards so they may be able to shutdown Kansas guards.
I think it will be a GREAT game, once of the greatest of all time , seriously.
But i give Kansas the edge, 79-74

Hansborugh has a inside game, I still don't consider him a mid range shooter though like you said. But I do like his hustle and his heart (except in the Memphis gm). He manages to score no matter what and thats comes from great his attitude. I do think he really has to work on his defensive game before he enters the NBA.
Kansas was running on all cylinders in the first half. But Roy Williams should have manged his players better than that, how can you not defend the paint against a team like memphis. Roy final got it right in the second by double teaming down below and letting memphis prove themselves behind the 3-point line. It was UNC's win, until UNC started playing to memphis benefit like they did in the first half. Badshot selection and trying to come back on 3-point shooting did them in, it allowed Memphis to come back on fast breaks and push the mometum back to them

I could be wrong and I like the kid so I hope I am, but I don't think he can stack up to the power forwards in the league.
Good argument but one can only voice opinions and not facts as to whether or not someone will make it. I can't come up with names right now, but there have been many people in the NBA that people THOUGHT could not make it there. And most of the time these people that voice this opinion never played ball themselves or played only pick up games and they talk like they have facts about their thoughts. Back in 1988, I tried out for the GSU Panthers basketball team under then coach Lefty Driesell and made the first cut and I still can't comment on who can make it and who can't, lolol.Originally Posted by tony
BTW, I didn't make second cut because they switched the days on me to a day I didn't have classes and I didn't follow through...dammit. Who knows...I could have been one of those people you say couldn't make it, lolol.
Not arguing with you, Tony. Just voicing. Later, QD.
Oh you're absolutely right.. no argument there. Tracy McGrady came out of high school and was basically Vince Carter's shadow for years.. Chris Paul is another one that people under estimated so you never really know.Originally Posted by quickdodgeŽ

But wouldn't you figure that the two teams he picked to go to the Championship (UCLA and UNC) both lost. Lolol. Later, QD.Originally Posted by tony

Memphis FTW. If I was the opposing team I'd just foul them the entire game, seeing as they are 30% from the line. That might come back to haunt them when it comes down to it, but I'd still like to see them win.

I wouldn't go with that strategy as Memphis was 87% from the line against UCLA and over 75% in the two games before that.Originally Posted by Kyle

Kansas, since I was good friends with their point guard (Mario Chalmers) growing up. It's kind of surreal to watch Kansas play because of that so I'm hoping they pull it out. If the Hawks want a real point guard they need to pick him up! (biased opinion of course)
And Hansborough will be average at best in the NBA
hansborough is probably one of the faster big guys i've seen. regardless though, unc played like **** sat and they paid for it. w/that said, i think kansas will roll. i think it's funny how so many ppl are talkin about how hot memphis has been, but what about kansas? they blew right through their conf as well including the conf tourney.
Anyone see my boy just hit that 3 to take it to overtime??! Damn I was headed to bed but I guess not now.
Wow, this has turned out to be quite the excellent match-up.
I'm really pissed. Memphis could have easily won that game. 9 point lead with about 2 mins to play, well done.
