Default My Les Claypool concert experience 3/4

Well last night was the Les Claypool concert at the Variety Playhouse. VERY VERY front row, I was literally the closest person to the stage. Here are some pictures I took. The show was fcking bad ass. Included his 4,5,6 string basses, a 4 string stand up, a bassjo, and the Whamola. At one point I was literally two feet away from being able to touch him, very awesome with him in his masks looking down over you killing his bass.

I also took two videos I will try to get uploaded for y'all. These were all taken from my Samsung D807 camera phone.

These are a few shots of Secret Chief 3, who of which opened for him.

Also there is a robot in a few pictures. This was some kid who made the costume out of a carboard box and crowd surfed up front, when Les saw him he told his roadie to bring him on stage inbetween songs.

Now on to the main event.

He did wear an array of masks/hats. First was a derby with sun glasses, a pig mask, a monkey mask, an Elvis mask, and then a Safari hat. I hope you guys enjoyed these pictures as much as I did the show.

EDIT- Here are the videos I took. One of his bassjo song, ''Iowan Gal'' and one of his playing the Whamola on the song ''Whamola''.

Dammit, im pissed, i didn't even know he was coming! I've been to 3 Primus shows and ALWAYS love to see his on-stage antics. Did he perform and Primus songs or just stuff from his solo albums?

I would imagine he'd throw some primus in.

Pork soda is one of my all time favorites. He has a different lineup now too. I bet it was a blast.

He played ''Whamola'' twice, ''D's Diner'' and ''Fisticuffs'', but he played ''John the Fisherman'' and ''Tommy the Cat'' the night before in Nashville. He also kind of busted out the ''Jerry Was a Racecar'' driver riff.

Damnit! I really wanted to see this show but was just too broke to drive out to ATL to catch it. I've seen Primus three times and Colonel Les Claypool and the Fearless Flying Frog Brigade once. Awesome shows.

I'd seen Les Claypool and his Fancy Band at Bonnaroo in '06. I've always been a fan but never had been to a show.
