    Default T.I. arrested...

Rapper T.I., whose real name is Clifford Joseph Harris, Jr., was arrested this afternoon in Atlanta. The ATF executed a search warrant at his home, and according to Atlanta's FOX 5 News, T.I., remains in custody.

The agencies at the scene of the Federal search warrant include: The ATF, U.S. Marshalls: Fugitive Task Force, Fulton County SWAT, Fulton County PD, Dekalb County PD, and the ATF/Atlanta PD Violent Crime Impact Team.

The U.S. Attorney's office will neither confirm nor deny anything about the investigation.

T.I. has a number of projects currently, including a movie with Denzel Washington that is set to be released in November, and he was slated to perform at tonight's BET Hip-Hop Awards, which is scheduled to air on October 17. The rapper has nine nominations, more than any other artist at the event.

    Here's the complete news story...
Rapper T.I. arrested before awards show By ERRIN HAINES, Associated Press Writer
Sat Oct 13, 11:05 PM ET

ATLANTA - Grammy-winning rapper T.I. was arrested Saturday — just hours before he was to perform at the BET Hip-Hop Awards — in a parking lot where federal officials said he planned to pick up machine guns and silencers his bodyguard bought for him.

T.I., born Clifford Harris, is charged with possession of unregistered machine guns and silencers, as well as possession of firearms by a convicted felon. Harris was in federal custody, said U.S. attorney's office spokesman Patrick Crosby, who would not disclose his location.

Sydney Margetson, a spokesman for T.I.'s label, Atlantic Records, declined to comment Saturday evening.

The arrest resulted from an investigation that began this month. A federal firearms dealer told the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives that a man was inquiring about buying a machine gun without registering the weapon as required, according to a criminal complaint filed Saturday in U.S. District Court in Atlanta.

After trying to buy several machine guns from an undercover ATF agent, the unnamed person began cooperating with the government and said he was buying the machine guns and silencers for Harris, the complaint said. The bodyguard said that he had bought about nine firearms for Harris, and that the rapper had given him cash to buy guns four times, the complaint said.

Harris brokered the deals through the bodyguard because the rapper is a convicted felon, the complaint alleged. It is against federal law for a convicted felon to have another person get firearms on their behalf.

The 27-year-old rapper arranged to meet with the bodyguard Saturday to exchange cash for weapons, the complaint said. After his arrest in the shopping center parking lot not far from the awards show, agents found three firearms in the vehicle he was driving, including a loaded firearm between the driver's seat and center console, according to the complaint.

As the awards were being taped in Atlanta on Saturday night, federal authorities were still searching T.I.'s home in East Point, about 15 miles southwest of the city.

Agents found six guns in a closet, including three allegedly bought by the bodyguard for the rapper last month, according to the complaint. Five were loaded, agents said.

T.I. had been expected to perform at the BET show, which is to be broadcast Wednesday, and was nominated in nine categories. Instead, the rapper was noticeably absent from red carpet festivities before the show began at 6 p.m.

The co-chief executive of Grand Hustle Records won three awards at last year's inaugural BET Hip-Hop Awards and received nine nominations this year, including CD of the Year, Lyricist of the Year and MVP of the Year. His sixth album, "T.I. vs. T.I.P.," was released July 3 and debuted at No. 1.

T.I. won two Grammys in 2006, including best rap/sung collaboration for "My Love" with Justin Timberlake. He also hit the big screen in "ATL" that year, and he has a role opposite Academy Award winners Denzel Washington and Russell Crowe in "American Gangster," set for release Nov. 2.

T.I. grew up in Atlanta and was selling crack by the time he was a teenager. In 2004, warrants were issued for his arrest on probation violations for a drug conviction, and he was sentenced to three years behind bars. It wasn't clear Saturday how much of the sentence he actually served.

Associated Press writers Jason Bronis in East Point and Jonathan Landrum Jr. in Atlanta contributed to this report.

You can post it the next one hundred times right now. You can make a thread devoted to telling me to get out out of your ***** and quote yourself for the next year. Doesn't mean anything here, though. You post your uninformed, uneducated bull**** and I'll be right here to speak on it. Later, QD.

He probably set himself up. Nothing can help you sell records more than being in Jail to keep your rep up. True Gangsta. It's like Sex Tapes for Rich White Girls that "Accidently" leak out. Does nothing but help your career.

I wonder if BET will start their "Don't snitch" campaign again.

I don't think most of the Federal case against T.I. is going to stick b/c it's all circumstanceual evidence. It'll be T.I.'s word against his new body guard who has a lot to gain by setting him up. All the weapons found at his house are probably used by his body guards. Whether true or not I guarantee you that's what the defense will say. The gun's that T.I. had in the car are the only things he'll probably have to worry about. And hopefully there was a body guard with him when arrested so he can claim posession of those weapons. T.I. made a very stupid move but with all the problems in the world you go after a guy who's got way too much money and too little time to really use these guns for bad. I guarantee you he'd buy them, show them off to all his boys, and probably go shoot them at a gun range once or twice then he'll get bored and store them where all the other guns were. I highly doubt he was buying them for a ensuing drive by him and grand hustle were plotting or some bull**** like that!!

The guns will NOT be all he has to worry about. If he is not have any guns, that would include his house. Whoever uses them, they should not be in his house. He is accountable for them. Later, QD.

Are you smoking crack. There are plenty of rich, convicted felons who have body guards that live w/ them that have weapons permits and carry weapons at all time. I did a little bit of private security part time. By law you aren't even supposed to be in a certain vacinity of a weapon but the rich get the blind eye by officials unless you're next on their list.

What does crack have to do with this? This is the same scenario as it would be if a beer were found in a car. Open container in a dude's car can get that dude a citation or worse regardless of whose it is. It doesn't matter who lives with TI. If TI cannot be around guns or have them in his home, then he cannot have them in his home. It doesn't matter whose it is. Do you not understand logic or are you that much of a TI fan that anything negative to him is negative to you? Later, QD.

Illegal nonregistered class 3 weapons.......................... that might get viewed a little differently. A felon can enter a gun store, they can't buy one, hold one, use one, or have someone buy them 3 illeagl class 3 machine guns and silencers. If your body guard is strapped, the body guard is in possession of the gun not you.

From what I understand the safe the gun were in scaned fingerprints........... it's funny they say only T.I.'s would open it. If that safe is in your bedroom closet it's going to be hard to convince anyone they were your bodyguards weapons.

    Here's the follow up story....

Rapper T.I. will face a federal judge this afternoon (October 15) after being arrested over the weekend on felony weapons charges.

T.I., born Clifford Harris Jr., will appear before US Magistrate Judge Alan J. Baverman at the United States Courthouse in Atlanta later today. Prosecutors will charge the rapper with possession of unregistered machine guns and possession of firearms by a convicted felon, after a federal investigation revealed the rapper was allegedly trying to purchase machine guns in Atlanta.

According to documents released by the ATF, the investigation started 11-days ago, when the rapper's bodyguard asked a licensed gun dealer at The Gun Store about buying a machine gun and not registering it, as required by law.

On October 2, the dealer reported the incident to the ATF who started an investigation and provided a fictitious cellphone number to an undercover agent posing as a machine gun dealer. Eight days later on October 10, Harris called the bodyguard to pick up $12,000 in cash to buy the weapons. The bodyguard met the undercover agent at a K-Mart in Doraville.

T.I.'s bodyguard then gave the agent $2,200 and a .223-caliber pistol in exchange for three 9mm machine guns and two 9mm silencers. Federal agents then arrested the bodyguard, who revealed he was buying the guns for T.I. and that he had purchased almost 25 firearms over the past 18 months for the rapper, who is a convicted felon and legally barred from owning firearms. In one incident in September, the bodyguard claims that the rapper gave him cash to purchase a Calico 9mm from The Gun Store. After legally purchasing the weapon, T.I. allegedly invited the bodyguard into his bedroom, where the rapper showed the man a walk in safe with a finger-print scanner, tall enough for a person to enter.

Inside of the safe were a number of assault rifles in black duffle bags.
In another incident in September, T.I. asked the bodyguard to purchase a .500 caliber Smith & Wesson revolver, which was allegedly given to Grand Hustle rapper Alfamega, who then delivered the weapon to T.I.

The next day, on October 11, the cooperating bodyguard called another bodyguard working for T.I. to discuss security services while agents were listening. During the conversation, T.I. grabbed the phone and the bodyguard allegedly told the rapper he had "everything for you [referring to T.I.]" On October 12, Harris called the cooperating bodyguard while federal agents listened and arranged to pick up the guns the next day.

On October 13, around 1:00 PM, T.I. called the bodyguard and asked him to bring the guns to a recording studio. At the behest of ATF agents, the bodyguard arranged to meet in the shopping center parking lot in Atlanta. The rapper arrived at the parking lot and the bodyguard, who was wired, entered T.I.'s vehicle. The bodyguard asked the function of a silencer to which T.I. replied "No Flash, no bang." T.I. then asked the bodyguard what the "E" meant on one of the machine guns.

The bodyguard explained that the "E" meant semi-automatic mode, while the "F" meant fully automatic function, which T.I. Allegedly acknowledged.

The rapper inquired about ammunition, the capacity of the magazines and any change that might be left over from the purchase.

Federal agents then arrested T.I. without incident, recovering three firearms, including one between the drivers seat the center console.

T.I.'s girlfriend Tameka "Tiny" Cottle and Grandhustle rappers Mac Boney and Young Dro were also arrested. While Mac Boney and Young Dro were not charged with any crimes and released, Cottle, who was a member of the all-girl band Xscape, was charged with possession of marijuana and the drug Ecstasy. A subsequent search of T.I.'s home recovered three rifles, two pistols and a revolver in the walk-in closet and safe in his bedroom.
Five of the firearms were loaded.

T.I. was held in federal custody over the weekend on two felony charges: possession of unregistered machine guns and possession of firearms by a convicted felon."There are two sides to every story," T.I.'s lawyer Dwight Thomas told CNN. "I've seen copies of the documents as a result of the search, but I have not seen any evidence yet, in terms of any physical evidence."Thomas also revealed to CNN that he was not aware of T.I.'s past criminal record as a convicted felon.

"The are two sides to every story, sometimes three." Thomas said. "As you know we aren't going to try the case in the press. Whatever his stance is will come out in the court of law, we won't try it in the media."

With all that he's been through legally, he's a freakin' idiot for allowing himself to be in that situation, no matter if he's guilty of the charges or not. I actually though T.I. was one of the very few who learned from their troubled past. I guess being a grammy winning, multi platinum, multi millionaire artist isn't enough for some people
