I've never heard of deer hunters betting on their sport, but that doesn't mean it doesn't happen. And if their only reason for hunting these animals is capital gain than that is wrong in my eyes as well. (don't forget that hunting deer and a few other animals are used for population control as well as sport).
I know that pit-bulls are very "game" dogs, and they have a huge 'prey drive'. But they should not be turned on each other for betting. To me that is cruel.

Well, when an animals population comes to an end that's why they stop hunting those animals and it becomes illegal. In the case of bald eagles they are actually on the rise and will no longer be endangered soon.
Pit bulls are born by the thousands everyday...they're also killed by the thousands everyday because they have become a fad. You see more people breeding pit bulls than any other dog when there in fact more pitbulls in shelters ready to be euthenized than any other dog. It's a pretty sad circle.
