I have the "F1" car so the rest of the cars or pretty obsolete. I enjoy my S2000 and C5R still though.

I actually started up a new save not too long ago and forgot how fun the intermediate races are w/ stock cars w/ minor mods. Only shitty part is doing the license tests cause I hate to see bronze medals so I try to get silver/gold.

I think one of the most balanced cars on the game is the S2K, especially the Opera Performance one. The Mugen S2K and the Shuichi Shigeno vers. AE86 are probably my two favorite cars in the game.

I have a bad ass force feedback wheel and pedal set for my ps2 that makes the game SO much easier and more fun.

Yeah, my favorite car now is a tuned 350Z that I have.

I also have been getting alot of wins with my Supra RZ.

I got so frustrated with those liscences, but finally now have beaten all but Super. I also heard using the steering wheel and stuff makes it ten times more fun.

when it comes to driving the cars GT3>GT4..... but when it comes to tracks and cars... GT4 s better. I'd be nice if they'd kept the driving dynamics from GT3 into GT4. I still love playing both games though... one for drifting and whatnot and the other for grip.

I love the Nismo 350Z and the M3's among waaaay too many cars to list.

The vehicle dynamics in GT4 are much more realistic. And the attention to detail concerning the track conditions is absolutly terrific.

You can tell they spent their time making every drivetrain type feel "correct"... or at least i assume it's correct, because AWD, FWD, RWD, mid engined cars, FR cars, FF... they all feel worlds apart in the handling dept. Mid engined cars will actually snap-oversteer in GT4, FF cars will oversteer like a mofo, and FR cars will lose grip over the tiniest bump in the road while you're hugging a turn (not too many small bumps on the courses in GT3).

And one can drift in GT4, me, A-Ran, DC2_88, hotrodkid, and Ailstock85 have had GT4 drifting competitions for hours and hours. It's hard to get used to because one actually has to meter the throttle depending on your entry speed and hold the vehicle steady via the brakes while drifting... whereas it's easier to do in other games because you can just bounce off the rev limiter while countersteering to the max.

Watch the Drift Bible produced by Kei Tscushiya... he teaches the six different types of drift styles.... and all of them (besides the clutch slip, because you can't randomly engage the clutch without changing gears in the game) actually work very well in the gameplay itself.

I prefer my superbly suspension tuned and supercharged S2000 for drift

And my painstakingly tuned M5 for grip on tight courses, and my Spoon DC2 for longer, wider courses.

Take into consideration that i do drift IRL myself and have a very firm knowledge of what it takes. Thus my reasoning for GT3 being the more 'real' simulation to drifting. It IS very easy to overcook a turn on GT3 with a little too much throttle/brakes/steering inputs.... much like doing the real thing. Setting up for a drift is a little easier then how it really would be, but once in the drift... the requirements to maintaining a drift are very similar.

GT4 looses that. Its for sure a all out grip game. But its nearly impossible to hold a drift through a corner and transition to the next turn. Its possible to trail brake... but going from trail braking to power over is nearly impossible and it IS impossible to countersteer through a entire turn. It is very noticable on how this does not work simply by trying to cut donuts..... that is also impossable and demonstrates how the driving dynamics of the game work.

I started playing Forza 1 and I could never get used to the physics in GT4 again. I don't like arcade racing games that much, but GT4 is way too difficult. I usually have to have all the aids on because the throttle/brake are way too sensitive, they're on/off switches. And because of the aids I can't drift at all. Forza is just so much better IMO, the physics are still realistic but its so much easier to vary the throttle and brake. In Forza all I ever need is the ABS, and I learned to drift pretty well in it.

I completed GT3 100% and I've been sitting at 99.6% on GT4 for a couple years now, I just can't convince myself to sit down and complete mission 34, and I think I have one more 24 hour endurance.

I agree with earlier posters, once you get the F1 car it's difficult to drive anything else because the handling is so different. The S2000 is a very fun car with minor mods, the 787B has always been a favorite of mine as well. You guys find/buy the blacked-out 787B, Nissan R92CP, R89, and Toyota GT-One race cars?

Disable / lower your driving aids and it'll be difficult not to lose it.

There will never be a racing series that can compare to the GT series. The attention to detail is amazing. Forza is more like an arcade game and is much easier to play. Its always good playing friends who play forza and NFS series. GT4, the throttle, steering, and braking is very realistic. You cannot just simply press the buttons and expect to do well. That is unless you are weak and play with aids.

Hell no, its way too fucking hard in GT4. I used to love that game but I CANNOT play without the driving aids on. The controls are just too sensitive, for throttle and brake they're pretty much just on/off switches, so all you do is spin the tires and get out of control. That's no fun. In Forza the controls are just so much better, I can actually VARY throttle and brake inputs so that I can drive without the aids. With driving aids the games just aren't fun, all the cars do nothing but understeer.

Anyone who has actually mastered GT4 to the point where they can drive without the aids on, more power to you. But I don't have the time to spend just sitting there learning to control the buttons perfectly.

Unless GT5 fixes the problems with button sensitivity, online play, car damage, etc, I'll probably just buy a 360 so I can play Forza 2.

The buttons are analog, how much you push either button is how much input you are giving the car. But then again I dont smash the controller buttons when I play. I guess its just what I am used to, I have played them all since the beginning.

A lot of people ruin the game b/c the play through the whole game with 1 car like the indy car that takes ALL the challenge out of the game. Its all about how well you can adjust to different cars. Tires play a huge roll as well, you cannot just hammer the brakes or gas depending on tires and brake adjustments.

The real tests in GT4 are the series like the F1 world championship, because you have the exact same car as everyone else and you can't go with anything except medium-compound tires (if I recall correctly). Without traction control any car above 300 hp is pretty hard to handle. The higher the horsepower, the more you have to use the right joystick to get through first, second, and sometimes third gears.

I did get through both games without touching any of my cars' tuning setups, though. I don't even know where to start with that stuff.
