Dale Earnhardt Sr. and Hendrick Motorsports are long-time rivals. They were always the two biggest groups fighting it out on the track. A true die-hard Earnhardt fan would never cheer for a Hendrick driver. Having Earnhardt Jr. actually drive for Hendrick is like a huge slap in the face. It's a pretty big deal in the racing community whether you're a NASCAR fan or not.
