Saw it last night. Thought it was too long and drawn out, not as much action as I was hoping for, and the end was meh. Venom was kinda cool, but couldve been cooler.
Overall, I'd say 6/10, definitely not as good as Spiderman 2.
Spiderman 3 was horrible. Like, I've never been let down like that on a movie.
"Are you a Mexican, or a Mexican't?"
This is the hardest thing I've ever had to write. Spiderman 3 was fucking painful to watch. Parts of it are brilliant, but so much of it caused me to actually cringe. I often exclaimed, "I CAN'T BELIEVE THAT JUST HAPPENED!" But unfortunately that was more often because I couldn't believe that MANY adults thought that what I just saw was a good idea than because I just witnessed something mind numbingly awesome.
There were QUITE a few awesome moments in the film. Much of it was GREAT. Like about the first half of it. It starts off extremely cheesy, then it gets really gripping. And then... It's seriously like the writers became temporarily 8 years old off and on throughout the rest of the movie. There was genuine groaning and wincing on my part, and I am a TREMENDOUS DORK. I am a Spiderman fanboy. I expect a good amount of cheese in my comic book movies. But this was a goddamn cheese enema and bukkake fest.
It felt like the movie had identity issues. It tried to be a romantic, heroic movie, then a comedy, then more heroics, another futile comedy attempt, then became Saturday Night Live, horrorROMANCEcomedy, then heroics to finish it off. From the previews, the whole film seemed to be dark and moody, but was the exact opposite, aside from the scenes shown in the previews.
If I could only recut the film to exclude all of the insipid and unnecessary shit, it would be an amazing movie. But the emotion was totally castrated by a metric ass load of jaw droppingly stupid lines. At one point, an amazing and pivotal action sequence is immediately followed by a shot of two onlooking children, one of whom ACTUALLY SHOUTS, "Wicked cool!" I wanted to die. I really think that the numerous shots of bystanding crowds cheering on were way unnecessary, and became close to obnoxious. There were so many moments like that in the film, where they literally told you how to feel. You can just show us something without blatantly stating how we should feel right after it happens. Then there is the whole sequence with Peter dancing...I'll leave it at that. The symbiote shows up, literally for no reason whatsoever at the beginning of the movie and then does nothing for quite a while, then pops back in during the oh-so-predictable bad-dream-sequence to take over.
I will say that Venom looks cool once you actually see him, but he was such a mockery of the character that I honestly couldn't wait for the movie to end. When he appeared I had high hopes that it would pull the movie up for a triumphant ending. He's just a petty bitch with no real motivation for being as evil as they try to make him out to be. If you like Venom, you'd best kill all hopes of seeing justice done to him right now. It's really deceptive too, because when you first see him it's bad ass. It looks like it's going to redeem some of the cornier moments, but it doesn't. He doesn't call himself "we" nor is he ever referred to as Venom at any point in the entire movie. His tongue is on the action figure, but nowhere in the movie. No green saliva. He does not eat any brains, nor even make a reference to brain consumption. The suit only morphs to show Topher Grace's face. He sulks and whines. On the contrary, I feel that Sandman was actually done pretty well. We learn more about Marco Flint's home life than I would have cared to know, but the rest of his scenes are pretty good.
Ugh. I could go on, but it honestly hurts me to think about it.

venom was a let down and they tried to hard to appeal to everybody the movie was o.k. but too long. the whole scene where he was dancing and bumpin' and grindin' on in the air what was that? the only part i really liked was the hobgoblin / harry at the end.
*sigh* yes i know. We live in a country of morons. But they made it so...painful.Originally Posted by Ran Kizama
Venom should look like what would happen if Gene Simmons fucked a demon then they fed the offspring Miracle-Gro. The only part i was pleased about with Venom was the voice. In the books i was always confused as to how he talked, with those teeth and an apparant complete lack of lips. I always imagined he would talk exactly like he did in the film. Also...when the mask drew back and we saw Eddie's face, why did his teeth stay all scary looking???Originally Posted by HypnoToad
lol, yes. I think they tried to make it serious, but it made me giggle like a little schoolgirl everytime he was on screen with the emo bangs.Originally Posted by Nick
IMO the only scene with Emo-Spider i liked was the end of the fight with him and Harry when Harry threw the Gobin Bomb at him and he did the thing with his web and flung it back. THAT was just badass.
i had high hopes for iit...it sucked...
Yeah, i've heard all of this stuff.
My friend goes "spiderman cried the entire movie"

I liked it. I was surprised that I did b/c I was expecting it to suck since everyone had such bad reviews....
Well I saw it last night, I have very mixed emotions about it. First off I have to agree it was very drawn out and had points where the movie truly dragged on (the Pete and Mary Jane dillema) Some part were good especially once Peter was consumed by the black costume. The fight seen between Peter and Harry was pretty good "Little Goblin crying? Daddy didn't love you enough? Hmm". You can tell alot of production money went into special effects probably more than the previous two flicks. Especially the scenes with the Sandman. The ending with Harry was sort of anti-climatic, but hey I am in no way a director/producer. The Venom character had a little more to be desired, but at least it was in the movie. Some brain eating lines would have helped tremendously. I give it a 7-7.5 out of 10. Spidey 2 is still my favorite of the three.
I had a little problem with Venom "dying." Just isnt true to story...But then again what is...
I honestly hope that there is a part 4 I want The professor (Lizard) to turn and I want to see Carnage, but that is just me.
does venom REALLY die? or is there a possibility he could resurface?
i was really hoping they wouldnt fuck up the Venom story line because to me that was the best part of the spiderman comics. the trio of Spidey, Venom, Carnage was the best story line in a long time.
I was hoping they would stay true to the previews an leave venom for the END of the movie to carry into #4 where they could really explore his character an his hatred for spiderman.
but, it seems like they did the typical comic book shit that hollywood always does, throw as many god damn character as you can into a movie, dont develop any of them, spend millions on special effects, have no real story line, and just hype the shit out of it.
seems spidey3 has gone the way of X3 and Batman Forever

batman was good, x3 sucked....
Venom disappears and the storyline continues without looking back at him...There is a possibility for him coming back...Originally Posted by Mr. KiDD
Other than that...Yes there were too many villians, not enough of those stories and way too fucking much "love" story in there.
Honestly I went in expecting shit so I came out happy. I liked it. It wasnt "fucking awesome!!!" But it was good.
Harry was never Hobgoblin... that was a completely different person... just an fyiOriginally Posted by bicsintegra

Emo spidy sucks, venom is tiny, and the sand man just quit
they need a more badass spiderman...
and from what i hear they keep calling it the black suit, that aint right...its the symbioye(sp) it came from space on JJ's sons spacecraft, then it attacked spiderman..then he wanted it off so he rang the bell and it knocked it off(sound and fire can get the suit off)then it jumped on the one person that hates Peter the most, eddie brock...then he becomes Venom, and someone said he doesnt even call himself "we" like he should,in the comics the suit and eddie talk to each other.and the hobgolin is a thief that stole oscorps stuff to make his goblin outfit, and hes orange,as harry and norman are green...spiderman 4 should be Venom vs spiderman..dont do other villans..i wish people would would just make it like it is in the comics

yea spidey 3 sucked the whole first half of the movie is nothing but oh i love you and harry acting like a giggly lil girl then the symbiote shows up for no reason unlike the cartoon and the comic books. there is no real talking of venom like the cartoon and the comic books overall i was really really disappointed i used to watch the cartoon when i waas like 8-10 and this definitely sucked big time i was not the last bit thrilled about the movie at all you do get to see the tounge but its only like a foot long doesnt really have any control over its host like it does in the comic book also the other thing that kinda pisses me off about all the spider man movies is that there is no creepy lady that he has to talk to every time his spidey sense goes absolutely bizerk and there are a few other things that im kinda pissed off about but im gonna leve it at that

I Saw it, but i really dont follow spiderman that much, so i thought iy was ok. It thought it was funny when he became a pimp called slick back and started slapping everybody.
Just got home from it, I really didnt think it was that bad...alot of cring and shit but all in all it wasnt that bad
finally!! another spidey nerd!Originally Posted by HypnoToad
and if it was super authenic to the comic book, can u imagine how freaking long that movie would have to be? its a movie it will never be as good a the comic book, no comic book to movie conversion will be, because comic have years to develope a story liek while most movie have a/an hour plus to do it. the closest comic to movie conversion has to be the OG superman and thats because for one DC comic character sare plain and have no real story line. I think for 2hrs Spiderman 3 had special effects, storyline, love, action, its a hit.

I liked the action, I think they should have had Venom not die and come back for a 4th emo free spiderman. The only "funny" part of the movie I liked was in the restaurant with the guy from the video games. I'm hopin they don't fuck up Transformers and Die Hard 4. I'm wondering about Die Hard 4, the kid from the Mac and PC commercials is in it and I don't know how much of him I can take.
is it just me, or did Peter Parker seemed "gayer" when he was taken over by the symbiot?
I mean...he had a pretty gay strut, and his hair was screaming "I'm an emo homosexual"
the movie was way too long and drawn out, the crap between him and MJ will always be long and drawn out and boring, I did get excited when he hit her though....other than that, the previews make you expect so much more, and the movie fails to produce that.
I didnt hate the movie, it was entertaining, but it should have lived up to the hype of the commercials.
alright well i didnt follow spiderman comics nearly as much as xmen, but i saw this movie and thought it was ok, im sure if i read more of the comics i would say differently, because i cant stand the xmen movies. seems to me that hollywood is taking the ideas from someone else of some characters and a general story line and making it into there own shit. but hollywood just makes movies for the general public, not the people who have knowledge about the stuff, because of course the general public is gonna love these types of movies, but the action and stuff in spiderman was pretty good to me.
