I think this movie follows the theme of the book a lot more than Willy Wonka, it should be pretty good.

it will either be really good for really shitty... this is tim burtons take on the book so it will be quite different, the music and depps acting from the preview looks gay
THe music was gay and didnt have any of the origional songs. The Uumpa Lumpas looked the same and were kinda homo. Depp was funny in the movie but they left some parts out from the origional that could have been better. over all it was ok, kinda funny, certainly not as good as the origional but what is?

this is not a part 2 of willy wonka, people seem to think it is, tim burton wanted to do the movie with his spin on it.
Its the same movie...at first I thought it was going to be CHarlie as the owner but It was still Willy Wonka as the owner and Charlie Buckets as the winner...it was a little freaky and the way Depp played Wonka was kinda weird in the fact that I could have sworn someone else played it. Depp's WOnka was almost the same as Austin Powers "Goldmember" in that he used "Yea" and "Sure" at the end of a lot of sentences(sp)

The sequel to the book was called Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator and was never made into a movie.
That is only because there havent been enough drugs created in this world for someone to think it would be a good idea to make the second book into a movie.

You know Jonny depp modled his character for this movie after Merlin Mansion (sp?)

well they say that tim burton pretty much got the idea for Depp's character from watching game show host, which was really creepy to me ha.
I thought it was pretty good....the original was great, and I think they remade it very well. In fact if it weren't tha t i grew up watching the old one, I'd say the new one was better. The only downside was some of the ghey music.
...and the original had a masterfull sound track?

I heard awhile ago that the book was supposed to be a little creepy and Tim Burtons version of the movie was going to be more along the lines of how the story was supposed to seem.
depp is ok, ive just always been a big gene wilder fan. dono if i even wanna see this one.

This movie was great. Depp played the role the way it was meant, kinda creepy. This movie is a tiny bit darker, but its a great spin on it. Very good IMO

Well we went to see it last weekend. The wife and I had a date night, it was either that or war of the worlds. Since the baby sitter was a little late we ended up at charlie.
The movie actually follows the book. I know we dont read books anymore but it was pretty good.
Regarding the umpa's they did not have to blow a big budget since there was only one umpa and they just did some cg to make multiples.
Depp in my opinion in the first scene looked a shit load like Michael Jackson "aka mr child molester". Kind of freaky.
Apart from that the movie was pretty good. Sound track was ok but it was done by danny elfman "Oingo Boingo" lead man. Now he does some messed up music.
