Default FS: Nikon D700 Camera Body

I am selling Nikon D700 camera body because I will be upgrading very soon, and until then I will just use my D7000 camera. If you are looking at this thread you most likely know what the deal with this legendary full frame professional camera body is. Mine will come with the original box and all the instruction manuals. It has 45K shutter actuations on it right now(it is good for 150k) and will go up daily. I bought the camera brand new in April 2010. I treat my camera gear with the utmost respect because photography is my full time profession and while you can tell it isn't brand new it is in very good condition.

For more information please read the DP review post on the Nikon D700: CLICK HERE

Current pricing on a brand new D700 is $2699.95 from B&H: CLICK HERE

PRICE FOR MY NIKON D700 CAMERA BODY: $2150.00

    ***BUMP! PRICE DROP: $1700***

Must be picked up from Marietta Ga. Cash payment only in a very public place during daytime hours.

I am. With the amount of video I do for my full time position here at Forged it will be awesome to have full frame photo and video in one camera body. Right now I am lugging around the D700 and D7000 at the track to do both.

I hope that you are able to write that D800 off your taxes. It isn't cheap.
Why aren't you going with the D4 instead, since you are using it at the track? How large are you needing to print your photos?

I'll tell a couple of people that I know about your camera.

I will come out of pocket less than $1000 after selling my D700 and go from carrying my D7000(for video) AND my D700(for photos) to just the D800. When hiking around Road Atlanta in the summer this is a huge deal to me LOL it sucks hauling around two cameras, it is heavy and awkward.

The D4 isn't worth double the price for me, plus it is a HUGE camera that weighs a lot, which sucks when you are holding it and a large lens all day. Not to mention I do rig shots and the more weight at the end of your rig = more bounce, which = harder to get sharp shots.

I have no issues with printing, I used to print 20x30 posters with my 7.1MP D50 all the time! Please pass the word around for me, while I don't need to sell it asap I would like to pre-order my D800 when I can.

I sent an email to a friend of mine that is a Nikon fan.

The reason that I asked on the printing is that you obviously don't need 36mp for print - unless it is HUGE. :-)

I think that you will need to order the D800 soon - a lot of pros appear to be ordering it now. I think that the D700 is still excellent for advanced amatuers though. You can pretty much do anything with the D700.

    Awesome! Thank you!

The D700 is a BEAST! The D700 is still more than enough for most professionals, it is an AMAZING camera! OMG, I just can't say enough about it. I love it, I really do. Honestly, my photos won't get any better upgrading to the D800. The only reason I am doing it is convenience. If the D700 did 1080p 30fps video I wouldn't be selling it.

    It really does LOL I have a D5100, D7000, D300 and D700 here at work LOL I use the D5100 a lot for video though...it does 1080p 30fps and the D7000 only does 1080p 24fps or 720p 30fps.

I have the D5100 also, but I would love to go full-frame. D700 would be the obvious choice for me, if I could afford to throw the money at it.

If you don't care to do video then in my honest opinion the D700 is MUCH better bang for your buck than the D800. At this point its not the camera that is holding anybody back, its the person using it.

I got the D5100 to do video also. I plan to upgrade it to a D7000 later, but would like to get a full frame Nikon also. I have a D70 for when I need 1/500 flash sync, and a N70 for when I want 35mm.
The D700 would be a nice touch to have everything. :-)

I'm not sure if that upgrade is worth it if you are just doing video. Like I said I use my D5100 to do video just as much as the D7k. I don't know why Nikon did this but the D5100 does 1080p 30fps and the D7k only does 1080p 24fps...when it comes to shooting action that is a big deal.

Judging by Nikons past its easy to see what they will do....the D400 will have the same sensor as the D7000 and more FPS/larger body just like the D90 and D300 did.

    D700 > D400

i have heard that might be the case but it will have closer to the D700 iso performance. i had the D7000 but the AF was nothing like my D300s. if the 400 has better ISO and as good of a AF system or better than my D300s and the same size body. the D400 is the camera fro me.

I guess its just one of those things once you have had full frame nothing else will do LOL

I would much rather have full frame than a slightly higher ISO on a crop sensor. Full frame catches more light on the sensor, meaning you don't need as high of an ISO.

Here is an explanation, simplified: http://www.kenrockwell.com/tech/full...-advantage.htm
You'll find the same explanations on Nikonians or NikonCafe - or any other photography-related site. If I'm spending more than a grand on a body, I'm going full frame.
