Hey Chong80 did you say you had a mini-me or frankinstin swap.

I've done a few of them and have never been able to get them perfict. there always a 1/2 toth off. about 3* from the right seting on the timing. it should be fine to drive it but a cam gear will fix it.

Hey mike... Been watchin movies and tryin not to think about the bastard, but yes, 1/2 tooth no matter what, so I either advance it 3 or retard it 3. It's a mini me but I call it Frankenstein (since I didn't know if it would even crank after I did it... never heard of it/done it before my head blew). I'm just worried about f*uckin it up since its the cam that is advanced or retarted, not the ignition timing (which is dead on since I went and bought a timing light)... Dont want to put too much negative stress on this piece cause I really need it to run for a good long time as is or better.

I'll check with the old lady, but we can prolly BBQ here, my backyard ain't done yet but plenty of room out front, less than 10min from pleasant hill... Class starts back for me on the 8th but other than that I'm pretty much home all day/down to hang out...

Well the d15 block with the a6 head I put together 2.5years ago is running strong up in NC. I never put a adjustable cam gear on it and its still running ether advanced or retarded 3*. The A6 block with the Z6 head was the same way and that is one of the fastest stockish(all stock parts used) N/A cars I driven. With the cam gear on there you'll be able to get it 100% perfect.

Hell yea I'm down for a BBQ!!!

GDI!!! just lost a write up to the backspace button... Anyways, u build an A6/Z6? The only reason I didn't do that swap was cause my research said Y8 makes a little more compression and power...
    http://www.knology.net/~jediklc/D.htm helpful site...
Plus I got a complete D16Y8 head AND intake for $75...
Shoulda just drove it to the meet yesterday but I'm a perfectionist... if I do it it's 120% (keyword is IF lol), and after my month long $300 project I am so impressed/proud of, I will f*cking shoot myself in the foot, literally, if it turns into next week's $1800 JDM swap...
guess its about time to go loosen this godd^mn tensioner again... at least I don't have to take the WHOLE thing apart lol
