Your stock suspension would be safer for a first timer than throwing thousands of dollars into a race suspension and going out on a mountain run. Too many people throw lots of money into their car, not fully understanding what they are doing too their car, then they get over confident about the way the car handles.

Exactly. Just b/c you got the "goods" doesn't mean anything. I rocked Ebay coils for over a year and they did fine.

i think you need to go to an SCCA auto-x even kevin. I know there is some event where a professional instructor gets in your car and you ride in the passenger seat, and they show you how to push it to the limits, as well as give you pointers.

shit i got megan racing sleeve coilovers with blown shocks and it handles preety good...when i get more practice around turns i will upgrade. then ride up to a mtn. run.

driving in the mountains is completly different from driving in SCCA, but alike in many ways... though SCCA is a great way do build ur skills. it mostly teaches you how to adjust to different elements of racing, late braking before a turn, how to enter/exit turns, and how to develop quick hands w/ the steering wheel.

SCCA is a great way to break into road racing, although NASA is a little better due to the fact that they offer alot more thrack days than SCCA. NASA also has the Honda Challenge, which is a great source to get noticed (sponsorship) in road racing.
