Ok Master Roshi, but yeah I don't care what group I'm in. I'm still new with this mountain run thing so slow-medium group is fine with me. BTW you should come to the ATL Dragway race night, I'll place you in the slow group right after BigDare & Uproot.

Perfect example. Our "grand old man of the squad" ran stock motor. He could run right beside me on one of my worser days without a problem. It's baout the driver.

So, I'm the "grand old man of squad" now..........




...well....that is assuming you were referring to me...

But, I'm pretty sure Ben was talking about me, and yup, I did my damnedest to keep up with Ben's pace....on a stock engine....and stock suspension...which was also most likely the original 230K mi. (at the time) suspension. Oh, and stock brakes.

Ben's absolutely correct in that a large part of enjoying one's car centers on the driver. *The best* mod any of us can ever make is the "driver mod". That's the one where the driver actually learns how to drive the car.

Anyway, I still don't think I'm really all that fast. I have lots and lots left to learn on the subject.

I say you should go ahead and put in this "LS/V with ITR Goodies" in it so you can actually make more than 120 WHP, plus a little extra power would help you get up those hills in the mountains. I'm not saying drag racing is harder than driving in the mountains but it's definitely not as easy as you think young man, ask Darryl and he'll tell you; and trust me I am no pro either. I definitely admit that it takes skill to be able to maneuver through the curves and I am willing to learn how to be a better driver in the mountains; that's if you're even that good but yeah I could also give you a few pointers at the dragstrip also.

The ONLY reason I'm willing to try things with her is because we've known each other like 4 or 5 years. We've dated on and off like 2yrs or so. She's had PLENTY of time to get with someone else, but she's always stayed loyal to me...even when I was seeing other girls, she's just been waiting.

I know she'll be loyal...but if she licks some dude, I expect to hear about it before I find it myself. But the story checked out legit. Although I'mn ot happy about it...she didn't do anything beyond that...I'm willing to deal...for now.

i just want to say a couple of things - i don't want to go in a group with anyone who 'thinks' they are fast. that's why i initally inquired about a 'cruise'.

i'm not interested in egos and leadfoots. attitudes and driving like that are more likely to endanger you and everyone who shares the road with you.

put me in the slow group so i can have some fun with the curves. or better yet, i'll hang back and wait till everyone has been gone for a good 5 minutes before i start out. that'll leave me plenty of room to do my thing.

also, and this should be #1: make sure you have GOOD TIRES, GOOD BRAKES, and good fluids. Those are the most important things - not power. if your tires are over 200 treadwear, you should definitely not be in any 'fast' group.

I was joking about the fast car thing, I may be fast I may not. I just want to enjoy my first mountain run. I have new tires, 12.5" rotors with Hawk Performance Ceramic Brakes, and Royal Purple fluids. Oh yeah they are 200 treadwear as well:

Just curious who this must apply to because only a few guys are running swapped motors and none of them have claimed to be fast in the mountains because of it.

were just saying dont expect to be in the fast group cuz of those reasons. it's like i said people may start w/ one group but move up by the end of the day, it could be someone wit a d15 or a k20. it just all depends on the judgement of the leader of the group. if the leader of a slower group thinks someone is faster than the group they are in, but is keeping a safe pace they may be able to move up depending on the size the next group. leaders will be people who have experience, will not be doin stupid sh1t like crossing dubble lines etc...

yeah, I don't now how it's run, now...but I had a rule of no crossing the double yellows. White was at your own discretion. Illegal passing ONLY if the "slow driver" has had a chance to let you pass. Experience in the front, noobs in the back.

Even our "slow" group was pretty fast-paced. the main reason I lead teh "fast group" was only because I KNEW the course... Anyone who says the slow group is actually slow...really is a dousche, overconfident, and it's proabbly going to get them killed one day. These ARE public and open roads...
